    Put something under the forks so they slide on the concrete and if it starts just start lowering the lift and it should right itself.

    We do have another, less powerfull, standup type and there is another new one coming on Friday.

    No way to get the truck back in there. too narrow.

    There is a beam almmost directly overhead but it is way up there. I guestimate 40+ feet. You can see one at the top of the far wall in one pic.

    I thought about this but they think the hydrualics are fubar. Sommething happened to the mast when it impacted the ground. And now its leaking fluid.

    No, I didn't do it :luvya:

    Tried moving the forks but they wont move.

    either that or call some pros in. I'm sure its not the first time its happened. Someone will have the expertise and equipment to do it right. Just be expensive.

    Well if the hydro isn't totally shot and will hold some pressure should be simple to fix.

    We'll see. I think tomorrow they are going to try to take the weight off the forks and the try to lower the mast again. If that works, at least then, it wont be so tall. Of course, that alone wont upright it. One of the conerns I haven't mentions is the racks on either side. I am concerned it can tip sideways into one of those racks and there is a lot of weight up high on them. Lowering the mast will reduce the chances of that happening.

    If you have another forklift in there, can you chalk the wheels of the down lift, attach the other forklift as high up the mast on the toppled one with a long rope or long chainand pull it? Like raising a mast on a sail boat?The leverage pulling at the top of the mast should make the work of pulling the toppled forklift back on its feet

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    I like this idea, because zero emissions in MT. My grey truck may not pass state emissions soon, not because it has poor output but because the swap uses components from an older emissions system.

    It's not actually on the wheels right now, it is on the base of the mast and on the fork tips. My main concern is how stable it will be side to side, both when the weight transitions onto the wheels and then again when the CoG transitions far enough to tip it upright onto the 3rd wheel. It would be very ugly if it tipped over to one side or the other. the track is relatively narrow.

    This is what I am advising (somehow I became an adviser simply because my truck has a winch on it :rofl:).

    The base of it is very dense, all steel construction. I don't know the weight of it tho. If I were to guess, it would be ~3-4K.

    Mark (the raisin) who has 30 years of forklift experience and has seen toppled forklifts before is suggesting it'll probably have to be dragged out of the building somehow before it can be righted. :(

    There is no way to get a wrecker back in there without dismantling two main racks that are in the way. One turn is so tight, the redhead would have trouble.

    I think your weight estimate is a bit high. It is a smaller unit and is electric, not propane/engine powered. Very comparable to this: https://coronadoequipmentsales.com/product/ces-20415-toyota-electric-3-wheel-forklift/

    Yeah, the warehouse manager has contacted his service people. Also, there is a new forklift slated to be delivered on Friday. The purchase was in the works before the incident.

    Operator inexperience is the root cause of course. He had just pulled a pallet from the top of the rack. The mast was still extended when brakes were applied. The CoG was too high when the weight shifted forward.

    I found the cert plate on the forklift. It says it is 5,000 lbs without the battery.

    Know I’m late to the party, but they definitely want to try and get the forks back down the mast before they attempt to do anything else, with C.O.G. Up that high the lateral stability will be virtually nil trying to get it back upright. The recovery will have to be initiated from the top of the mast once the forks are down .i.e something that can lift up vertically. Six years of driving everything under the sun that goes by the name of forklift I was fortunate enough to never tip one, but those old towable death traps were constantly trying to bite you in the ass.

    If memory serves me the max weight capacity for a 5000’lb forklift at full mast extension would be about 1000lbs.

    I might be wrong, but if memory serves me, the second stage of the mast works off a geared chain drive and the forks work on the first stage solely off hydraulic pressure. However lowering works on both stages relies on the weight of the forks and a hydraulic pressure bleed valve, so no actual hydraulic pressure is applied when the forks are being lowered. So to lower the forks with it tippe over some force other than gravity will need to be applied. It will definitely have to be stabilized while those forks are getting forced back down, but the only way to get it back upright will be to lift vertically from the highest point on the machine.

    Looking at the picture again, it looks like the second stage on this was also a single hydraulic ram, so bleeding of the hydraulic resistance to get the forks to go down isn’t really n issue, but moving theforks without destroying the warehouse floor is going to be a pain. Definitely need a way to lift it just enough to get the fork tips off the concrete, a six ton capacity fork lift might do it...glad I don’t have to figure out this one.

    this is exactly correct. Two stage up but gravity only for lowering.

    There are two tricky aspects, both of which you've mentioned. One is, how to force the forks and therefore the mast down to lower the CoG. The other is side to side stability.
