A couple of days ago a one of the new Model 3 Tesla's drove through our parking lot at work. It was the first one I'd seen in person. I had read in an email that there was one at the Tesla Store showroom that was available to come check out and had planned to do that. So when I saw the one drive thru, I assumed it was either the same one being referred to in the email or they had more available for test drives and the one I saw was out being test driven.

So yesterday, I was a little surprised to see the same one parked in our shared parking lot. So I took the opportunity to look a little closer. I must have looked a little like those tourists we encountered last fall at Dead Indian Summit on the Chief Joseph highway when I was taking pictures and peering in the windows.

Thanks whirlpool for designing most backward plug I've ever seen, genius.

There are three reasons that manufacturers do this. Well, four:
    1. They aren't thinking and design the most backward plug you've ever seen.
    2. More likely: since that plug has a cord that comes out at 90° to the blades (for tight clearance behind the appliance), it allows you to plug into the top receptacle and not cover the bottom one. Since most manufacturers don't do that, Whirlpool gives themselves a better chance of being able to insert two plugs into a receptacle.
    3. Less likely: the brainy designers of the applance expect you to plug that in "from the top" so that the cord runs "down from the appliance directly to the receptacle." This rarely works out, since gravity pulls all the extra cord to the floor, so you always plug in from the bottom.
    4. Least likely: installing receptacles with the ground up (what we all normally think of as upside down) is technically slightly safer. The reasoning is that if the plug isn't fully inserted and you "fall down onto it," you will touch the exposed ground blade first, rather than potentially touching the hot blade.
Ahh, the random facts we know from doing inspected electrical work :)

Very few folks install receptacles with #3 in mind, so building a plug for that mode is extremely rare. So my guess is that it's usually #2. Turns out my new Samsung monitor is the same way. I thought it was strange too.

Checkin’ in here. I’ll be working in Green River for the summer/fall. Thought I should check in with the local tocomaworld!
I am bringing my little dirt bike too to maximize my exploring.

    Thank you for the welcome!

I was in Green River last summer working (between school) and I had a Ford Focus. The Taco will make exploring almost too easy!

I figure they assumed I would be dropping the cord down to my outlet but it's for a dishwasher and the hole in the base cabinet is on the bottom. My cord comes through and heads up to my outlet. Easy fix I just flipped the outlet. It was just annoying to wire the plug with 2 circuits (for switched disposal) upside down in a cabinet behind the sink to find out I had to do it twice

You probably want to route your drain hose up and over the cabinet divider wall in the middle, it helps them drain better and prevents water from the disposal from backwashing into the dishwasher.

:woot: paperwork came through today and I'll be converting from a intern to a term fish bio position. Not the permanent position I was hoping for but they can convert me as soon as a position opens (like when the current fish bio retires). I could be laid off at any time but that's pretty rare. I can be a term for 4 years before having to apply for it again and by then I will have most likely moved for a permanent position or our current bio will retire and I'll stay here.

Much needed good news. I know the fish bio for BLM in Coeur d'Alene is planning to retire soon. We might be moving north if that happens.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind if I start to have some issues. I'll see how this setup works for now, don't want to drill another hole just yet if I don't have too

I’ve installed a few dishwashers and a pro-plumber buddy acted like I was some kind of retard for not knowing that, cause I also routed them down through the bottom as pictured.

Thanks bud! We are getting a smoker shipped to us soon and we might have to goto Boise to pick it up. I'll give you a heads up if we do and maybe we can finally meet up for dinner and a drink .
