So apparently there is an area close by here in midland that people go off-road in. Bit if a canyon it seems, lots of tricked up jeeps. May be imnnotnstuck in the flstlands after all

OK, checking. If we go, we'd have to bail on the 18th. Either for the full day, or at the end of exploring. We'd need to be back by 4pm on the 19th.

It snowed almost the whole day so temp was teens until afternoon then it was probably mid 20s. Probably a foot of fresh powder up higher and maybe 4 to 6in at lodge elevation.

Had a long track 137 last time so tried a short track 129 this time hoping it would have more umph. Honestly couldn't tell much difference between the 2. They are a lot of fun, but have there limits. Control is amazing, you can put it anywhere you want and it effortlessly side hills which is nice for exploring and dodging trees. Downside is it's absolutely gutless when climbing bigger hills.

If you can throw a regular sled around there is really no reason to get one of these other than just to try something different. If you hate fighting a sled to get it to do what you want then this is the machine to get and have a fun time on. I went almost all the same places as the sleds I was with except higher up when it was deeper and they were high marking or trying some of the steeper things that you couldn't attack at a less steep angle to crest.

And it is Shell road. The boulder basin part is just a small part of it. Just the east side of the loop. Road goes back aways further to another lake as well that's cool and even further to another

450 4 stroke. I lived in 2nd gear most of the day, occaisonaly hitting 3rd on the flats. I have a buddy that owns a snow hawk and I'd like to try it one day since they were built as an actual snow bike and not just an afterthought dirt bike conversion kit

I was too honestly. It has a Rekluse clutch on it which is nice but with snow boots and the snow packing in around the shifter it's not the easiest to flip through gears right when you want it.

The snow bikes look super fun. Would be fun to try around here but I don't think I'd use them enough to justify buying and owning one

Renting is a nice option. I don't go enough to justify ownership, but it only costs $300 for the day and I think that's fair.

Anybody else see that garbage movie Wind River? What a joke. Not a single part of that story is true. They made the movie based on "actual events" Which were because of generic rape cases. Like WTF. Could of picked anywhere in the World that had a rape case and made a movie doing whatever they pleased. Incredible.

Supposedly supposed to bring attention to the plight of the reservation. Disgusting use of media for that. Makes you wonder about other movies that say "based on true events".

I mean..I liked the movie for what it was.

As for true events..probably not. One only has to read American sniper and then watch the movie to know that's usually never correct in Hollywood. Part of the reason why is you never have enough time to show the full truth in a movie.

The story as a whole was a bit of a stretch but was still powerful to get the message across. But very over the top.

Idk man. I get taking a true story and "Hollywooding" it up to enhance it. I see this as completely different. Give me more useful information if your serious about your cause. Don't give me a BS story and try and tie it to a noble cause.
