It’s listed as a hybrid. Between ful MT and AT. The skinny tire and load range E just isn’t worth it for a daily either.

I guess I should of clarified and said I want a true AT and a lower load range. Hopefully the tire gods will let this mistake pass so we may all live on

Skinnies can be plenty soft and they'll give you better mpg, with how much your truck sees dirt I wouldnt sacrifice that. The KM2s I got from Mike are C rated skinnies and they're basically marshmallows haha

Not a lot of tires that aren't E load range sadly..

C rated tires are the shit.

Mine are not soft and we have true AT in c rated on the 4Runner and they ride a lot better. Skinnies r fine but going a little wider and losing I think it was like 8-9 lbs a wheel seems like a fair trade off to me.

i know yours aren't. I have the same exact tire haha

The only AT in a C rating I could find for a 17'' wheel was KO2s

That's the main reason I would stick with the Hankooks. I've beat the hell out of two sets and haven't had one issue. Load range D is nice too, don't want to end up with Es again.

Snow rating is nice, but not the main reason I want them, as I don't really drive my truck in the winter. That being said, I left town here in a blizzard on my first trip to Utah this spring, and was wishing I had something other than MTs.

I would highly recommend the Hankook MTs. They've performed very well for me offroad, pretty good onroad, just don't expect to get more than 30k out of a set.

I haven't made the switch yet, but based on how I use my rig these days, I'll gladly sacrifice a little offroad ability to gain tire life, comfort, and road noise.

If you ever make it down here I'll still cruise right up Holy Cross with no winching even with some ATs. :luvya:

They are what I was considering next. Test drive a 4Runner with 285 on them and it was a nice smooth quiet ride. But I may look into a 32 also.

the 275/70 size is tempting. But i like the 255 size. Though I want a wider tire too. I just replaced 3 of my tires though so that'll be a while.

Lol I haven’t seen a 285 cost 300+ yet. Like 220 for the ko2 in c. My stmaxx now costs more than that when I last looked. It’s 800-1000 for truck tires that’s just how it is I think.

And I might even go down a size to get the tires I want.

As soon as someone makes a skinny(er) 35 I'll make the jump. Not holding my breath though.

I'd stick with the 295/75r16 if I could have the tires I want in that size. So going to 285/75r16 is the easy choice, and not a huge difference in height.

I would be willing to go 35s if I could get them in ~11" wide as it would be less weight and way less work to clear than the 12.50s that everyone else has. At that point the added height would be worth it to me. I doubt anyone will be making that size tire, so it's really a moot point.

285/75r17 (34x11) would be the best current solution, but tires are expensive and I would have to swap wheels.

    what? My ST Maxx cost 200 a tire..or 205.

    well..you know a 315/75r16 is basically a 35x11.5..

Wyoming guys! What's up? My name is Tom from Canada. I'm doing a trip down to the Tetons in August. I have my back country sites booked for overnights in the park, but need to figure out camping in between. Can anyone shed some light on whether there are "free" places to camp in the park? Can anyone explain forest service land? We have crown land in Canada (aka free-for-all), is it the same?

From what I see, I'll still end up paying on a nightly basis which is crazy for a tent spot.

There is no free camping anywhere inside Teton or Yellowstone park. They are both National Parks so its regulated.

The USFS land you can camp in dispersed sites no problem however to get to the USFS land where there is any place to do that you end up a ways from the parks.

On the way to the parks pretty much anything that is BLM or USFS you can camp in dispersed sites. There are actual camp grounds as well but you'd have to pay the 7 buck fee or whatever there as well. Plus its not as fun :p
