EB9EBE8C-49BB-4F3D-B39B-85D5E7994930.jpgSo I quickly wired up my D2’s and relocated my light forces. Rigids work good, but now my light forces don’t work. Had to temporarily sub the 30 amp fuse with a 25 but it’s not blown and there is no power at the switch. Any ideas?

No clue! But like your truck and view!
Bet the fact that for 21 days there have been zero new sunspots is significant.

No power at the switch suggests it might be the relay. There is a relay in the circuit right? You have power to it?

And check over all your grounds. Make sure no wires got jostled in all the shuffle.

Ground is still anchored well, can you check power at the relay by partially pulling it out and checking for voltage at the positive and negative terminals?

That'll depend on the relay. If the cover comes off, then yes. If it doesn't, you have to find the beginning of the wire. The relay that came with my lightforce loom was a 'sealed' unit. Or at least, I have never tried to open it up.

Where is said relay? Under the hood or in the cab?

Under the hood, it’s the one that came in the lightforces harness. I’ve got a bussman box and paranoid fab mount, but haven’t had the time to wire everything up proper. I want to take my time and do it all clean and professional. Just haven’t had that kind of time.

    You'll have fun.

I know the anxiety, have felt it before too - I think it's that having someone else there, even if you are a single truck, somehow makes you more comfortable - perhaps that you could troubleshoot problems together? Something like that.

I've also found that I really like being able to say "wow. look at that." to someone, in person. Sure, photos are nice, but actually sharing a moment in nature with someone is also so nice.

Anyway, pack as you normally do; you're plenty prepared. Take a good book and enjoy some down time (for me, in the night and morning, generally - I skip the camp fire when solo and get some extra sleep, feels nice). Go at your own pace (which may be faster or slower than normal) - that's one of the huge benefits of going solo every now and then.

Oh, and I talk like I know what I'm talking about...but I've only every had one solo solo trip. :)

I'm hearing setup camp, get blasted on weed and beer, and attempt to call people you forgot were in your phone book. That the gist of it?

In all seriousness @m3bassman, I have fuckloads of great audiobooks if you need something to keep you occupied, also great for the drive too.

I'm laughing at the idea of you trying to get her from overhead level down to the ground while half on the tent ladder.

Also the audiobook are multiperson, basically done so that it is like a movie dialog wise.

@m3bassman What do you do with the dogs at night? We just adopted a 1.5 year old Husky and are trying to figure out how to take him with us. We've got a folding crate that will fit in the bed of the truck. We were thinking of putting him in there and closing the tailgate to minimize distractions.

I don't like the dogs in the bed. They move around too much right below you. I always put them under the truck in kennels.

Though most the time now days, I just let them run wild in the woods all night haha

Have long leashes to attach to the bumper if needed though.

Thanks guys. Sounds like we're on the right track, just have to figure out where he is most comfortable. We figured that having him in the bed would be best to avoid other animals, but having him pacing around and rocking the boat all night wouldn't be great either.

A few years ago I arrived at my annual hunting camp three days before anyone else. No cell service, and didn't even see another human for those three days. Well on the second day I did see a pickup drive by a couple miles away, but that doesn't really count. The first day I loved it, but by the third when the first guy arrived I was very excited to have someone else there. Over the years I've arrived at camp one day before anyone else several times, and that is great. Enjoyed it actually, but three days was pushing it. I don't know how mountain men used to go months alone. No wonder so many of them were a little on the crazy side.

Great meeting you Brett! I liked the roughness of the trail. Keeps the "overlanders" out! We didn't have too much trouble getting back out. I never had to double lock, just used the front.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand new shocks on the way. got me some 12" 7100s. I'm part of the resi club! Gonna go SO FAST. just gotta rebuild the cross bar with a better design that doesent snap at the mounts. Probably going to just use some channel and drill holes in it for bolts to run through

Well, since I have an aussie locker in the front it's either all my power goes to the driver axle or I engage the ADD and split it. I usually just lock it if I'm getting into technical stuff. We were also taking the hardest lines we could and they would flex the suspension too much for an open diff.

Huh. I took every hard line I could last time. I had to give it the beans on one bigger rock but otherwise never had an issue. 35s help though. Plus I know last spring was rough on that trail and I'm sure its very very different from when I was last there. Some fun flexy spots on that trail though. I love that place.

I didn't know you had an aussie up front. Thats cool.

What else would I get? 10s? Ya I cycle about 12, with them mounted traingular. There’s no way to cycle through full droop and stuff if they’re vertical (without going through the bed) so I have to give them some angle
