I'll let you know, I'm just ordering Moog arms... But this is my ghetto fix until I can spare the time...

 

Yeah, I replaced it with one of the original OEM axles from my truck

 

Pretty close. Doubt it's a v6 though..

Eh. idk. Not as good as it could have been I think. Should have stayed all in house. I think its lame they collaborated with BMW on this. The Supra was Toyotas star sports car.

Will wait for more info and see how the aftermarket works. Plus the motor as a LOT to live up too.

Not very concerting, considering I installed the same exact axles last week and also no project would be complete without one numbnuts mistake. Really don’t want to break the joint just to put it on right side up.

 

My CVJs are going on 3 seasons with no issues. The inner red boots look perfect.

I got the standard outer boots, not the silicone or OEM boots. They're starting to crack/dry rot. Guessing they'll split here at some point soon, but I'm keeping an eye on them.

I wanted to go out last night..but it is so freaking hazy hear I didn't think Id see hardly anything. Certainly not photo conditions.

 

Its already going to be worse then the FRS/BRZ/86 as no manual tranny is in it. That just sucks.

And yeah it was over built. Everything Toyota did back then was. Why they were/are so great. They didn't design it to be 400-1200hp monsters everywhere. Everyone else just realized it was that after the fact. Which means there will be weaker spots now in the new one compared to it.

Hilarious that a 2jz would bolt right in haha I mean..they dont' even make that motor any more. And if they did, they might as well just keep making it and put it in there to begin with. Would make that car kind of odd to be new and yet "old".

Idk. Time will tell. So far, Im not impressed. Would go for the 86 first.

Yeah that is a nice little car. I'm really itching for a fun car out here. But want a turbo. I like turbo haha Really want an MKIII supra again or a gen2 MR2 I think. Living so close to the beartooth highway and yellowstone I know Id use it a lot going in the park with Devin.

 

We saw a few, every ten minutes or so. Lying by the fire, listening to the river and watching the stars. Doesn't get any better!

 

The red boot is supposed to be the better choice. Just not as sure about that as I once was. I am sure the axle itself is fine. It is OEM afterall. I am still hopeful my red boot was not typical because I have another one on the other side.

What is the blue boot? I haven't seen one of those before.

Did they do the boot slide mod on yours? How much axle shaft is exposed on yours? I am wondering if stretching out the boot may have contributed. Mine split in two places right on the ridge. It was not from rubbing wear.

 

I recommend you ask Dan really nicely to make you one of those beautiful wooden mounts he has

 

Mine did come with the boot slide, but also an extra set of clamps, and a note saying you may have to move it for your application.

I did end up moving them inwards, as they were rubbing against the bottom of my coilovers, but I don't think there are as far inwards as the stock position. They also had a little tube on the outside clamp, that you removed once you got it where you wanted to relieve any pressure created from moving it.

I have the red boots on the inner and the blue boots on the outer. It is supposed to be CVJ’s premium offering for “wheeling” axles. Both boots are silicone and are supposed to be extended travel. At least this is what I remember, I got them in early May and just got them put on last week.

 

Fingers crossed, I treated them with kid gloves while installing.

 

Interesting. I knew about the tube and had a note about removing it. But nothing about the bootslide. Your gap between the boots looks very similar to mine.

 

I've not heard much about outer boots being an issue so I went with the rubber option for the outers.
