Wow. That worked out better than I thought it would.



OBA/Quick access OSK is done.

 

Did you take the cover off to tell, or you can see it? (curious, for obvious reasons) Would love to see a photo of what you're seeing.

 

Oh man, bummer. Hope you get it figured out easily. I was curious since I had trouble with on of my cam seals... But no symptoms of any leaking (yet) with mine.

 

looks like it deformed during installation. One of Dan's did that too.

My RTT bolts ripped out of the floor and made bigger holes. Tent no longer holds itself down.

Maybe. I'd be worried that it would still slide around too much. A lot of weight and the bolts are super small. M6 maybe. Holes are now 1/2" or so

 

Oh and the pooper lid finally flew away. Didn't find it.

So bought a new one now

 

New floor is gonna be expensive probably. Damn. Waiting to hear back on official numbers

 

Could you make your own if you drilled out the old pop rivets and bought a sheet of aluminum? Make it (ruggedized)

idk. Its honecomb aluminum..not sure just straight aluminum sheets would work.

 

Mine is just diamond plate.

 

Might look into it if it's too much money. Or drill new holes maybe.

 

I like this idea. Seems to me like you could drill some holes large enough for sleeves around the bolts, insert the sleeves, and put some larger washers on top of the bolts, keeping everything together better. And, maybe add a few extra (aren't there only two per rail stock? maybe do 4 per rail) to distribute the forces better.

For the existing holes, just fill them with some expanding foam or something to keep the dust out.

Total cost is the cost of 8 sleeves, 4 more bolts+nuts, and some foam. Maybe $20?

Yeah i like that idea. Wish I had a better place to work. Fall is here full force now. Getting cold out. I'll probably at leas just do two new holes with bigger washers for now. I'll add more later, the size of the bolts is rather sad honestly for holding down a 220lb tent. Least for how I drive.

Over priced. Thought about grabbing it on my way down though just cause...but then snapped out of it haha

 

nah I knew that. Bobby told me that after my mounting rails split.

Was careful not to over torque them. That said, the damage was already done when the rails had split, the holes had started to wallow out. Washboard/bumpy roads did the rest.
