If it was cavitating you should be able to see the bubbles.

If you confident it's still coming from the pump, probably means your pump is done for. Sounds pretty similar to what mine sounded like when it died in AZ last year, except I had to listen to it constantly for the entire drive back.

 

Is the fan pulley bearing and water pump two separate assemblies on the 5VZ, which one do you think it is?

 

Sucks if it sends shrapnel into the rack and kills the fluid actuator and seals though

 

Yes, two separate parts.

The fan rides on a hub that is mounted to part of the TB cover. Never heard of one of those bearings failing though.

Can't hurt to clean the reservoir and flush it. It'll cost you an hour and a quart of ATF. You can pull the reservoir off without removing the pump.

I'll caution you towards reman pumps - I didn't have good luck with them. Little over $300 for an OEM pump and I'm now happy with how everything it working.

Wrong MAF location? must have been a 95-97. Anything after that I believe is the newer MAF sensor.

Relay could be dead even if its clicking. Get the volt meter out. Then try hard wiring a light to the battery. 100w Halogen bulbs don't last a super long time though so keep that in mind. Could try and find an LED bulb that fits it or retro HIDs too which is what I'd do.

 

The likelihood that I'll be selling my Taco in the coming months is very high, so if anybody knows someone else that may be interested feel free to give em my info. 5-6k is what I'll be looking for. I can't and won't take it with me back to WA come August. My move back there is going to be a hail Mary attempt at getting my life back on track as is and I don't forsee having the time to use it. Everything works but the AC, you all know what's on it, won't be gaining any significant miles for the next 6 months.

 

Then how are you going to come wheeling with us?????

 

There will come a time when I'll build another for the tough stuff, until then I'm going to put a few bucks toward making the cruiser handle milder stuff cause I like y'all so much

Tent I'm keeping for the cruiser, and the hi lift. Everything else I'm leaving as is.

 

Aftermarket Napa PS pump in my Tacoma has whined like a bitch when it’s cold from day one. Has always leaked a little as a bonus, whine always goes away after it warms up, been going a couple of years like that.

All I heard in your video was a super metallic cognitive dissonance, but if you’re hearing a whine that’s congruent with inop power steering, that’s exactly what I had.

 

Somebody was confused...
