    That's not good. Motor should be fine with that mileage.

    You'll likely need new piston rings possible hone and a new head if it warped

    How will I know if warped or needing new rings? Take it to a machine shop?
    compression at 140 at this elevation on an engine that old doesent sound out of hand.
    1000 bucks? For a head gasket (best case scenario I know).

    No he's saying get a used 5vzfe for 1000.

    If you have blowby you've got back piston rings.

    If the head warped you'll likely have to get it messured at an engine shop. It's common though if they get too hot from a blown hg

    Not quite.

    Motor mount perches are different. So have to cut that all out and weld in new ones. Plus different emissions system.

    No motor swap is simple. Though that would be probably the easiest one to do.

    Still a lot of effort and time likely needed to do it vs just buying a rebuilt head

    If i did the 3.4 it would be more work than I thought, at a cost I don't want to shell out atm.

    Konsta's friend has a 2.7 with 100k that got pulled out of a rolled truck, that i can get for 750. So i think thats my strategy. About the same cost as fixing the head, and I get a newer healthier motor

    Yeah that's definitely the easiest solution. Wouldn't even bother pulling the head off the other if you can get that motor for that price and know it's runs

    I know of 2 lt trucks with that swap haha well one with an auto and one with the manual.

    You'd be better off with an L33 aluminum 5.3l ls and 5 speed nv3500/4500. More power for the same weight.

    Either way both of those would be a lot of work

    In that case a 4.3l 3uzfe all aluminum v8

    Or my personal favorite 2jzgte..since it would bolt up to our 5speed anyways

    Both of which ironically would likely be cheaper. For some reason the 1gr is expensive.

    It's not an imoressiim of enough motor either to make it worth I think. Unless it's boosted high

    What? The 1gr has always been offered in double cabs. It was never an option for 1st gens though..

    I've done a mod or two
    I would just because it is the first V6 they offered in a truck that offered any significant benefit in horse power over the 4cyl. Plus it's just as reliable anyway

    The later ones yes. Early ones with 236hp for a .6l jump...kind if meger gains.

    They pulled their heads out if their asses later and got it up to 265 though. That one would be worth it. Add urds Whipple blower and now I'm interested.

    Stock it's nothing to write home about though
