All sorts of time haha. Most of the stuffsthey talk about is way above my pay grade, but it's pretty cool to him interview all the different types on there.

 

Dan, The current Alcan leafs have 46,300 miles on them. All but 2K are with the extended shackles.

It is interesting to note that I took the previous set of Alcans, the Wheelers/Alcan set, the set that are still on igor, off with 46,700 miles on them.

Is there a problem with alcans longevity or something?

I think mine are right at 50k? Factory’s length shackle, I don’t use my truck quite like you people do though.

 

not really. They are a wear item.

When mike says he has 47k on his springs. Thats 99% fully loaded and idk..maybe 50% of that on dirt or so. Either way. Heavy and being used and abused a lot. No springs are going to last that.

 

My second set, the current set, seems to be going strong. So

 

They just got all bent out of shape or straight up wore out I assume?

Mine will probably last longer than my 99’s frame so I’m not too worried, just curious.

 

They just go flat.

 

As Monte mentioned. Leaf springs are a wear item. As all leafs eventually lose their ability to hold the weight.

 

Yea I understand, mine don’t get too much use really, I’ve had a 100# dog box in it for awhile but other that and a trailer once in awhile it’s empty.

How many miles on yours?

 

37K or so. Little less (~30K) on the top leaf, which I replaced to move the wheels forward 3/4".

 

Don't worry, I did too. It's called a 3rd gen Tacoma. My birthday/Christmas present for the foreseeable future.

The Pro grill's look so good on these 3rd gens, and the black wheels accentuate all of the other black accents and make that inferno pop.

 

Not helping

I have enough parts sitting in the garage waiting to be installed as it is. I promised I would slow down, for the rest of the year at least...

 

Having parts laying around isn't something I'm used to yet. Back in the 1st gen I would have to save up a lot longer and had much more free time. 1st world problems I guess.

I try to involve the wife when I'm installing parts, but she's been so busy lately. She at least got to learn how to install rock sliders. I don't see how you do it with 3 4x4 Toyotas. I can barely keep up with what I want to do on my one.

 

I just installed an old man / dad level mod for my cruiser and Z. But AZ is terrible and it's native drivers and Canadian snow birds are no exception to the rule so it seemed warranted. Looks factory and took me maybe 15mins all said and done. Taco won't get one for obvious reasons.
