Thoughts on the new supra?

 

I don't. The back is weird

 

The interior is disappointing on that front. The mkiv had the most cockpit driver oriented interior of any car I've seen.

 

Also auto tranny only is just plain stupid.

The 86 was so good because it was a manual. Hope they include that at some point

 

Yeah to big of a shoe to fill honestly. If they had gone for a new supra they should have done it all in house.

With a manual I'm sure it would be a good car

 

I think that new mazada engine that has figured out how to utilize compression ignition for gas is pretty neat.

It was the 2jz that made that car. And it was a nice car in general.

Would have been cool if they had made a their own motor for it. Though it comes with plenty of power now. Much more than any of the past ones. I just can't get over the odd rear. Wouldn't stop me from driving one to test it.

Still an 86 would be more fun I think. Way more affordable too haha

I'm eyeing a 91 2jz swapped MKIII supra for 9k. Think I can talk it down. My ideal car right there. Great gt car that hauls major ass and a targa top. Fun.

Targa tops kick ass, except when they leak... Even then though they're still cooler than slick tops haha.

I'm extremely disheartened by the new Supra, on the one hand I like the exterior styling well enough and feel that lives up to the legacy. But dissapointed they didn't care to engineer it themselves. I don't want a BMW anything especially not automatic transmission and engine. Not to mention the typical BMW interior. Oh well maybe they'll get it right next go around. Didn't have to be super powerful, but the potential needs to exist, failure for now in my eyes. Toyota seems to have lost the spark that let them build fun drivetrains. We have a gutless Subaru and a meh BMW in the Toyota lineup, maybe they'll decide to make a new supercar and outsource it all to Renault next. Even in the Lexus sport lineup it's all the same V6 and V8 in everything, they've gotten complacent.

Leaking targa would suck but still be awesome. I really want the car. Dude sucks at communicating though

 

They all leak, that's the joke haha. It's engineered into the design, but some don't hit the drip rail so we'll.

 

Doesn't help the seals are almost 30 years old haha

 

Yeah, there's probably one or two new seals left in the country tho. The ones for the Zs are all gone, but a dude started making them so we're good again haha.

 

Maybe. Haven't looked as it's not a problem for me haha would love to buy it but need a house first and a place to park it.

Good discipline. An 80/20 home plan (finance 80% of the sale price) means having to come up with 40-50-60 grand for a down payment. Not easy to do. There will be other MK3s...

I like this idea..just need it to happen..

I won't be able to do that no matter what. Which sucks. Not even close to having that kind of cash for a down payment. Haven't talked to a bank yet or realitor but worried I won't be able to find anything worth buying here.
