I'm sure it's something simple, it's nice just to see it coming together, and the fact its telling me what's wrong is nice. Its pretty amazing how much most of the wiring is identical in every way and only a few differences here and there.

    steering rack

Edit: i guessed that before i scrolled down past your initial post

i know my steering rack hardware :D

Lemme tell you hot i got that bitch back into mine. it SUCKS

I had to cut a notch in the bottom of the frame channel, below where that clamp is bolted to the frame, so that I could stick a looooong pair of needle nose pliers in it to hold the nut so i could get that bolt started (since it is no longer welded to the frame). then i could hold the nut for the bottom bolt and get that one going.

double edit: well guess you had a much easier time getting it back in than i did

Has anyone used an uniden CB? Im trying to us an AUX cord to connect it to the tacoma's speakers but when i plug it into the external speaker jack on the CB it works as a PA and i hear my own voice come through the speakers. Any suggestions??

You just have it in the wrong port. There are two back there.

I wouldn't wire it into your car stereo though. I'd just get a better speaker and tuck it away somewhere

Ive tried it in both, the one that the owner manual says is the external speaker does the PA thing and the one that it says is the PA acts as if nothing is plugged in until I flip the PA switch and then it also works as a PA, which that part seems correct to me.

Hmm odd. Could be because your trying to wire a balance connection to an unbalanced port.

I wouldnt run it like that though anyways

Ya I should probably just buy an external speaker and hide it under the seat or something. That way I can still listen the to radio while using the CB

I'd like to get a CB radio. Totally new territory for me. Are there any radios that have an internal antenna so you don't have to mount one externally?

My use would be just to listen to chatter on the interstate for fun (and maybe in the event of an emergency someday in lieu of cell phone coverage; also on the interstate).

Sounds like your clutch wasn't aligned right maybe.

    And input on tcase?

Only cb that will do that is a handheld which I wouldn't bother with. The range will be maybe a mile. Radios are all about the antenna and the tune. Without that, you're never gonna have good performance.

A cb likely won't be good to get help either as you'll be lucky to get more than 3 miles out of any legal cb radio. Ham radio is much better suited for that.

It's a monster, have a trans jack or the adapter for a regular jack to help. It's doable by yourself but if you can have an extra set of hands it's better. It's sealed between the tcase and trans with a small main seal around the output shaft so you could separate them without oil going everywhere if that's what you are asking.

Edit: also a long extension to help with the top bolts, like 2' long.

    I'd guess throwout bearing too.

You can get it out with the cheap horrible freight trans jack, but it's a bit of a balancing act. I've got the process pretty well figured out here recently. :anonymous:

There's 4 bolts that hold the crossmember to the frame, and four more that hold the trans mount to the crossmember. Remove those last after bellhousing and starter bolts, and wiring.

You will need to lift up on the trans up a little once you get the 4 nuts off. The weight of it makes it tough for those to back out. Also you will need to pull the shifters out of the top so it can fall down and back.

Wouldn't matter, it would have realigned itself the first time the clutch was pressed.

Cool for sure. A good inspection would be needed indeed.

    The skid?

Are you talking about the front drive output seal? Or the full tcase where it meets the tranny
