I would say there seems to be about a week to two week period in May/early June when it just rains for the entire time. It feels double that this year though.

Sorry to jump in here at random, I’ll go back to where I belong

 

Haven't seen that with PTT, but when my battery was going out, I got random restarts when it tried to draw too much power. Could be what's happening when you start transmitting with PTT.

 

I saw my restarts two times - first, when I thought I was going over larger bumps (and I chalked up to battery connection) but could easily have been APRS transmitting - which to your point is the same as PTT. Second, when I'd turn the key to start the engine; the starter would pull enough current that the radio wouldn't have enough to keep running and it'd restart. Don't have that problem at all with the new battery - radio stays on even as the starter cranks.

 

If I recall we fixed that issue on trail with a tightened battery terminal on Dan's rig.

 

Curious what people are connecting to their non relayed, fused bussman circuits. CB seems to be the most common, anything else?

 

I had a 12v outlet in the bed for the fridge too.

Cb I'd probably do direct to battery to try and not have any ground loop issues.

 

Well boys and girls, I've been doing some serious thinking.

It's a possibility I'll be looking to sell the big cheese in the near future. Baby #2 requires a bigger car for Jen. And I'd take over driving the fiesta.

I won't bore you with my thoughts but it's the best move financially and for where I now live. I don't want to watch it rust away here.

That being said, if any of you are interested, or know someone who might be let me know. This is very preliminary and I haven't even thought about pricing yet since I haven't done all my research yet but I'm going to be fair and try to leave the sentiment behind.

I might have a friend looking. Actually who you should ask first is Tom the guy we wheeled with at Goose. He is getting rid of the Nissan and wants a 2nd gen. Might not want the manual though..
