Lol this would likely be my only option except tying a dog leash to the steering wheel to get to the bumper. My spare tire would prevent getting out the rear.

You ever read Make magazine? Every issue they had a puzzle at the back that was a morbid situation and they would lay out the situation and tell you the tools you had and then you had to try and figure out a way out. Was cool.

 

Back to the little truck.

Meter shows 12.5v everywhere.

No igintion relay anywhere. Tore the lower panel off too in the cab as I thought I remembered it being there.

I can hear one of the relays under the hood clicking on and off when I turn the key to the on position. I assume that's the efi one. Starter one obviously would make it crank.

Still no dash lights when in on position. I did get a battery light just now. Which is weird. Gonna hook back up to Igor for a minute. Doubt that's the issue though as the dash lights would still light if the battery was low. Plus again the stater relay doesn't fire at all.

 

Hmm I do have a massive voltage drop from the engine bay fuse box to the cab one. Only 4v max in the cab.

 

Damn thought I had it by addressing the ecu ground on the intake. Dash lit up. I went to clear out the bay and then it was dead. Then after sitting it slowly lit up. I've cleaned all the grounds I can find...has to be one of them. None of them were actually dirty though

 

Okay officially think it's the igintion switch. Reason why is the key ding should turn off when key is in the on position and it doesn't. Keeps dinging.

Pulled the ignition switch. Found the ignition relay too which was spotless. Switch was a bit dirty so I cleaned it but nothing.

 

What happens when you put the battery from Igor in there? No change to symptoms?

 

Hm can try that tomorrow. Having Igor strapped to the truck for 30mins or so via jumper cables did nothing. I confirmed that it was getting 13.8v too across the truck when connected.

I think so. I just can't figure how now as I've cleaned them all. Some twice..

The ecu ground seems to be likely the culprit but it looks fine. I can try running some wire straight to it to confirm that.

And fun. I wouldn't like tinted windows especially with cheap stuff to diy. That's why Frank's original windows were purple haha

 

Red's battery was taking 13'8v from Igor's stock alt? That would be close to maximum output for a stock alt I would think. Was that battery run down?

 

Yes and no. Worked fine the day before.

It even tried starting sort of yesterday.

 

You're having a voltage issue in the interior (electronics and gauges) ya? You've cleaned grounds, but what about checking incoming positives. How are your fuses, they get corroded and sometimes the terminals they snap into do as well

 

Yeah pulled all fuses and checked that. All fine.

But yeah have a voltage drop in the cab. None of the dash light seem to want to light.

 

I'd open the fusebox and check for corrosion and ohm the power line to the interior fuse box

 

Like crack it open?
