Well dang. Had to come home early. Monte @Blackdawg and Mike @Digiratus are likely up Moly Peak right now!:annoyed:

...at least I know it's an easy job.

Exactly. You just have to hang in there and then it pays off.

Nah, this was just a preview - less than a week it turned out. Still don't know where we're going for the longer one, hahahahaha.

Yeah, "limped" back like there was nothing wrong. Seemed to run just fine - no noises, and it didn't look like any more leaked out on the way home. But still, no knowing when it would grenade the bearing, so I was sent home. Just the way it goes sometimes; I have to remember that I get to get out a lot, so probably better my trip is cut short than someone elses.

Parts ordered (and all exactly the same as the 4Runner), so now it's just a waiting game.

Well, I would have except that I've got another trip with my dad planned next week and wanted to make sure that wasn't at risk :).

Edit: plus, I was told in no uncertain terms that I was going home. (I'm sure I could have argued, but I'd have never heard the end of it if it grenaded.)

Yeah, I did this job on the 4Runner literally the day before I left on the trip. Same parts (and tools of course). So, now I get to pay shipping from camelback for a duplicate of the exact same order.

You'll have to teach me how to do it sometime. Never done one before on a Toyota semi float axle and I don't have an axle that has that style anymore. But I still want to learn.

Any time. Plus, I have a write-up that I'll post eventually. Just working through a backlog...

Edit: you're welcome to come out this way when I get the parts (end of this week/early next). But it'll be a bit last minute that I can let you know when they are arriving...and I'll do the job the next day.

Gonna have to check it out!

Hey no one sent you home! haha if you had wanted to stay I'd have rolled with it. I just suggested you should probably go home. To many unknowns.

nice to have a shower though. That was a dusty freaking trip.

Went for over a year without the seals doing there job because Toyota pushed the ring on to far. No problems other than the brakes being covered in oil.

Hahahaha, you're proving my point. When I found it I was like, "glad it's not much further to Moly." But both of you regaled me with stories of near disaster and Brett-tow-specials. I surely could have stayed, but it was a pretty strong suggestion... as I said above, I'd have never heard the end of it if something had gone wrong.

Like I said, it's a bummer, but fine too - it's not like there won't be more trips (in the very near future)! hahahahaha

And frankly, I'm glad to have people with more experience tell me when they think I'm crazy. :fistbump:
