    Is that rock crawling? :D

Nope, sure it was close though. Getting my skids sorted is near the top of the list for this winter.

Good skid setup is priceless but at the critical moments the driveshaft is always in the line of fire with no way to protect it. Is it Just far enough past break over to make the near Miss every time? Asking because I just don't wheel enough anymore

I think the break over is fine especially with a 1st gen on 34-35s. Bretts are 34s. Plus the gas tank takes like some of the abuse there. But it's not impossible to fuck it all up. Have seen a few guys on here do it, 1st and 2nd gens alike.

Driveshaft is clear of the breakover. It's really only protruding rocks that you need to worry about it.

Yeah, I've dented my driveshaft before, but that's pretty unusual. Takes the right rock. They don't hang down as low as on 2nd gens.

Dragged the bumper. Don't think I've ever hit anything on the swingout. Hitch, shackle mounts, and back corners take the most abuse.

Yea I guess I'm comparing it to my 2nd gen which seems like I'd drag shaft on a speed bump. I got a small spiral on Shoshone once, but maybe that was driver related...

Interesting, anything over about a 4' vertical ledge and my swingout is in the line of fire unless I have some speed coming off it.

That's a big benefit of the single jerry mounted sideways - your swingout sticks out significantly less than all of us with two cans. Positioning to get up this obstacle (which the rest of us didn't even attempt), @drr - on 35's - was within about an inch of hitting his cans...

Yep. Plenty of room for the 2nd jerry in the bed on trips where it's needed.

    Now try this obstacle. :D

This is why I raised my own and Mikes up to avoid this a bit. Which Dan's is not.

Though...a 35'' spare kind of defeats the point for me

FWIW, I haven't made that obstacle.

Too high of a chance of flopping. I think you would need 37s on a taco to make that without winching.

We were 5 minutes away from the trailhead when we passed through BV. :stirthepot:

Or just keep your stuff in or under the bed.

Even with the electric crawlbox? I've always wanted to try it but didn't trust Chris to spot me last time I ran it.

Yes. I watched a 3rd gen 4R on 35s winch up it. I think we would just unweight all 4 of our tires, and spin around on our mid skids.
