I like my newer tent. But I've obviously had issues with it and for a Summit Series It really shouldn't..

I might just go back to the old tent since it's also 100lbs lighter. But the thicker tent material and solid floor is nice.

No issues with soft shells really. Im mostly looking for the covered bed now from...well everything. And heat is cool too.

 

GFC is under 300 haha It really is a best of many worlds solution. I hope you get to wheel with one in action....which if all goes well you will soon because Im pretty sure Dan ordered one haha

I think if you saw one in action it would change you opinion. Maybe not enough to cough up the huge price tag...which is kind of where I am haha

 

Boy, we are spoiled. How much faster is an RTT than a ground tent? Let's see...first I have to find a flat spot. Then start kicking rocks out of the way... man, those were the days. hahahahaha

They are better if you orient correctly. Or are really flexible while sleeping soundly.

I think you've just described ALL tents.

GFC is really nice. Wide enough for two people too, which I was worried about. But I still haven't ordered one because $$$. I wonder if they will be cheaper used? My next impetuous for order will be this winter as I look at overall weight of the truck.

 

Which in theory should be a win for the GFC as it in total should weight the same or less as the bed rack and tent. In my case less.

Tent is almost 250 I think. The summit series is heavy af due to the thick fabric.

 

Windoors and the GFC sides aren't in the same league man.

And you can get it for a 5' bed too..

My OG tent from...hmmm..idk 7+ years ago is fine. Mike has been using his since then too and its all good. That thing has taken a beating the last couple of years.

 

ya that’s probably true. My hammock is the best thing I’ve owned and my truck bed canopy with a Costco memory foam mattress and being short enough to sleep in the bed. It always comes down to what works for you. Crazy that GFC have just continued to go up in price. Same with the superchArgers. 10years old for 2nd gens and not one single horsepower gain but price went from 4k to 6.5k not including install lol.

 

I haven't used it since...I think Alberta. But i have loaned it to someone and they have been using it for 2 years.
