    @Blackdawg

Are the 4wd axles needed for the MCM kit just regular 1st gen tundy axles? Anything special about them? I can easily get OEM 1st gen tundra CVs, no one like tundras like they do the minitrucks, always tons of em in the junkyards.

I replaced the cover because the zipper broke. It's been a worthy investment. $700 well spent. A full 7 wheeling seasons on it. Lot's a trail nights. Has held up well.

What a pain in the ass that would be to use for a two week trip.

This is a problem IMO. If mine had started falling apart in the last ~200 trail nights, I'd be much more likely to want to pay for a GFC. hahahahaha

    This ^^^

What is the financial term that describes spreading the cost of something over its useful life?

If I use my tent 20 times a year, then so far it has cost me $5/night to use and that cost keeps dropping. At $100/year it'll take me 70 years to get the same value out of the GFC. o_O

I realize the GFC brings a lot more to the game than my simple RTT, but still...

not at all if you don’t take two week trips. Actually works a lot better than my Ruggedized rtt did on a bed rack too. Gears always dry, bed and canopy make no noise and are way warmer from elements. Sleep like a baby. Hammock for the warm summer nights by the river and the fire. I’m more of a fly fisherman and hunter than a drive all day set up camp kinda guy.

If one was looking for land somewhere around where ID, UT, and WY meet, where might some of you locals recommend a place to live outside of town a little ways and not see their neighbors through their window?

I’m from SD so I’m a little done with harsh winters, but I also love the plains and Midwest and small town feel. Will be moving in 2.5-3 years after the wife finishes going back to school.

We just drove 6,400 miles scouting and had little for revelations. The wife loved AZ but there’s few places I’d want to live there ha. Call me a wuss but I don’t like killer heat either. Prescott or white mountains maybe..

Would rather be closer to SD home/family.

Done with winter? Scratch Wyo off your list then. And northern ID. Haha

Utah be okay winter's but still cold. Not sure how much land is for sale there though in the South part of the state.

I have killer heat too but does get in the 90s-100 in the deserts in Wyoming and easily in Utah.

We looked at Northern UT, right across the border from y’all. Have friends in Salt Lake but I don’t do big cities. My hometown was 24000 growing up and now that it’s 30k I don’t like to visit anymore ha.

Outside of Idaho Falls looks temperate compared to here. Outside Provo warmer ha.

Utah’s alcohol laws are enough to make me not want to live there. South East Idaho isn’t pretty enough for me to give up living in the north. Idk about Wyoming

I quit drinking years ago. Tax laws matter more to me. SD is great for those! But I’m done with 50 below every year. I can do cold just fine, but 30, 40, 50 below zero wind chill every year... I’m done ha. Got three winters left and I’m dreading it.

Well hardly any places in Wyoming over 20k at all haha like...3 or 4 I think.

    Most are 10k or smaller.

But winter is...not nice. Super cold. And super windy .which makes it worse. Lots of snow pending location but not always, gets blown away haha

Can't speak much about northern Utah. I've only driven through there but lots of mountains and plenty of snow.

Ben is in the Boise area and it is pretty cool location wise but big city so yeah..

Little farther north in Idaho is much more remote sort of. I'm not sure what the winter's are like though.

Doesn't usually get that cold..can though. hits -20 pretty regularly around February and again that damn wind..

But most the time it's like 0 to 10 I'd guess? Not bad. And 20s.

May have to scout again in the spring. Idaho Falls area is nice geographically for me but we shall see.

I figured it’d be too windy everywhere in WY ha. But I sure do love just about every single thing else about the state. Been looking for land there on and off for years.

Rock Springs area pretty terrible in the winter? People rowdy/crime or anything?

We have this cold front that only hits Aberdeen, SD. Even other people from this state ask why the heck we live here ha.

North Idaho can see 100ish inches of snow a year, very rare to be below 20degrees. Maybe 1 week a year it’s in the teens. But I live in a city on a lake surrounded by mountains for the most part so never that windy.

Rock springs is.....meh. I wouldn't live there haha

I80 is notorious for wind and snow. Usually every winter a pile up of some sort makes the news from that interstate.

Best places are lander(but getting pricey as people get pushed out of Jackson) Powell(bias but the location is epic really as your and hour and half or less from 5 mountain ranges and other great things) Sheridan (not bad place, lot of potential if the old people let their death grip go of it which happens more and more every year, only down side is you have to further to get to other mountain ranges but big horns are super awesome) Buffalo(smaller Sheridan) Laramie I guess, Cody maybe and maybe worland.

That's were I'd live. There's tons of other cool super small towns but land in those areas can be super pricey.

that at least the avg for in town. Mountains see a lot more. But I don’t live on the mountains and not that many people do.
