Yeah we get around the same a year here in the lower area. I mean the ski hill near me has over 80" already haha so same thing. Just figured the amount of precipitation would be higher over there.

 

cda is getting expensive too. Huge influx of people from California and Washington. Rent here is crazy and housing prices are even crazier. Hard to find any rental under 1500 a month for a 2bed 2bat. Thankfully we got in with a good builder and a good price. 1/3 of an acre in town and 2200 sqft. It will be ready in June 2020 though.

 

It’s pretty common to have rain in November and start of March. Some years we get like 20 inches and others 180.

I agree. I regret moving and being able to afford a home with a garage.

 

But hard to find in good shape and likely going to get destroyed with hard driving. Also the bed is microscopic and tent is too loose and would suck in windy conditions.

 

If someone was to break a nest, it would be Ryan. I would say if his has held up than they're fairly stout.

They do suck in the wind though. You got one thing right.

And he must have a good one. Which was my point. If you find a good one probably fine. Mine wasn't and wouldn't have lasted. And there is definitely an expiration date on the wood frame and fiberglass design. The one I had had caved in in the back and spread.

Still the roomiest camp setup I've had though. Was sweet for sure. Just not robust.

 

How is the GFC holding up, Brett?

I made the mistake of checking in on the GFC thread and it was full of drama and trolling, including some from mods, which was disappointing.

 

Yeah, the last few pages of that thread was pretty frustrating. I'd be ashamed to be the owners of VO, who I know are on here, and watch that happen. They have a solid product too, although with maybe a slightly different philosophy of use, but I would never own one as I don't think I'm enough of an asshole.


My GFC has been great! Can't complain about much. I have been trying to get in touch with them about picking it up and doing some warranty work this winter when I don't need it. Want to get the front and rear AL tubes on to replace the steel ones, and have the resealing process done with new hinges. Haven't had any leaking or hinge issues yet, but would like to get that addressed while it's still under warranty.

 

That’s good to hear. I’d love to have one someday, but damn is that a chunk of change!

What are the new hinges for? The tent or the side panels?

 

It's holding up better than the truck but not by much. It does suck in the wind. It's mostly just the noise though. Only once have I set it up and packed it back up because I thought the wind was going to destroy it. I think the wedge style would be the only thing to have a chance in that kind of wind.

I understand the point you are making. However, the concept isn't new.

 

That isn't really the same thing I think. Its one thing to pull a fully supported thing, which a tundra and tons of other vehicles could pull a jumbo jet, but its another to actually hold the load and tow.

Most fullsize rigs these days are around 30-35,000lbs.

 

I am a little confused then by what you've written. Are you questioning the new tesla truck's ability to tow at a rate that is competitive with other full sized rigs on the market now?
