Nothing just picking up a grill in Powell and brought the dog so couldn't bring the Lil truck.

We thought about a dolly. But with the front suspension collapsed it made the rear totally flexed out and likely not safe to tow either.

 

Hope it works out. Worland isn't bad. Not my top choice but is a decent town and decent location.

 

We can blame Monte for not passing that along.

Pull the other coilover?

 

Again idk if a transport company would have taken it in the condition it was in.

Don't think a stop at your place would have merited a safe travel home repair.

 

No I just don't know if a lot of transports would do that with a broken truck in the way it was is all. No idea really but seems unlikely to me.

 

I considered the option of hiring a transport. It did not seem like it would be a timely solution considering where we were. And no idea on the cost but seemed unlikely to be cheaper. Maybe if we had been in Denver instead of Buena Vista, that may have been a better option.

As for getting from Buena Vista to Steamboat Springs, that is a 160 mile drive. It would still have required a trailer and a tow pig. Yes, she was derivable, but at 20 mph max. We did it for ~10 miles on paved, deserted back roads but that only worked because we could avoid the highway.

 

Do none of you guys have AAA? I get a 200 mile tow covered with it.

That was my backup plan when I drove all across Wyoming with a questionable engine. Was going to get it towed to @BossFoss 's place and swap the engine there.

 

I do have premier that comes with a 200 mile tow but that would not have gotten me home.

 

Would have got you to my pace. Or to Denver to arrange other options.


I guess my point is 200 miles can help get you somewhere more beneficial.

 

With all due respect, I did not know your place was an option. And Denver seemed to be the wrong direction.

In any case, what is done is done and we will all learn something from the experience.

I'd like to echo that here as well. I'll go steal my buddy's car trailer if I have to so we can get whoever here safely to be fixed.

 

Hey Ben what tool box are you running again? Was it a kobalt?

 

No no the one in the truck.

Would like something to keep the tire chains, strap, jumper cables, small tool kit ect in the single cab.

Was looking at bed covers but none of the really cool new ones are made to fit our beds...of course.

 

I really like my delta that opens from the side.

 

Yeah had one for a while. But I Ben has one that is small. I'd like to keep the bed open as much as possible plus it'll limit the crap I haul around.

Yeah all tool boxes do that sadly. Annoying for sure. But for the DD should be fine.
