How long has CL been charging $5 to list a vehicle?

 

~6 months. Started doing that back in April.

 

I use Facebook marketplace. Way better than anything else bc you can cross post to Craigslist and the shop and swaps and what not. I haven’t used craigslist in years.

 

This is really the only reason I use the Facebook. I hate it but the community pages and marketplace are beneficial.

 

There is almost nothing listed on KSL within 50 miles of Cascade.

 

I’ve seen shit posted in Cali. If you post it, people will come.

 

Made some good progress on the redhead rebuild today. The motor is back in and mated to the trans. And everything fits...sort of.



The clearance on the passenger side between the headers and the TC gussetts was too tight and required modifying the gusset in two spots.

After cutting off some of the gusset things were much better with at least a 1/4" gap everywhere:



The gussets on the driver side also created an issue that is yet to be fully resolved. Apparently, TC never anticipated anyone using these would also be using a big diameter alternator like the CS144. It's hard to see it in this pic, but the alt case is right up against the gusset.



I am going to try a shorter drive belt to pull in the alt a bit to see if that will work. Otherwise a smaller diameter alt is in my future.



We also started work on the exhaust system. This pipe section will replace the upstream cat.



We finished the day by completing the LCA repairs (more pics of them coming soon). All in all, a great day.

Very nice. Did you get new motor mounts too?

 

You're probably going to want at least 3/4" of clearance on the passenger side. If you're still using rubber mounts they allow quite a bit of movement. I have a bolt through my driver mount to hopefully lessen the rotation of the engine but I still get quite a bit of movement. Called the MarMount mod. It does add some vibration at low rpms but nothing unbearable.

 

Why I was curious about about the motor mounts.

I think it's documented the headers don't fit well with the gussets but maybe that's 2nd gens..

 

Well that put a damper in my plans. I was just getting ready to order a set of gussets for my truck. I will have to check clearances when I get home tonight...

I don't think that much clearance is possible on the passenger side.

 

Do you have the thorley headers?

 

As in new oem or trail gear or bonzen?

 

OEM. Why?

 

OEM are rubber and allow much more movement. If you'd gone for something else you might not have things to worry about in terms of the motor moving a lot.

 

Hindsight is 20/20

 

Not too late bet you're pretty good at taking the motor in and out by now haha not that you need to remove it for new mounts.
