Rivian is a cool truck I think. Be interesting to see how it does in the real world. Hopefully buries the telsa POS truck so far down no one ever has to see it.

I don't think it was harsh enough. Thing sucks. It is a perfect replacement for all Honda ridgeline owners though. So props to them for giving those people another dumb vehicle.


Id drive a Rivian though.

Not sure really. Probably because of the weight though and the not so great improvements you get in a truck from that. Either A) the extra weight didn't make up for the fuel economy and made the vehicle slower and tow less. Or B) A hybrid setup couldn't outperform a standard setup with towing(thinking like diesels here).

That and the audience probably wouldn't take it. In general more truck people...aren't exactly hybrid people haha But an all Electric truck that hauls ass, tows as much, and can go as far. That's probably more appealing.

Just speculating, otherwise I have no idea.

 

Ill probably be labelled as a fanboi, but I like the cybertruck myself.. I think the rivian is ugly and awkward looking.

I didn't think the Rivian was that good looking till I saw actual video of it driving around. Then I was good.

The Cyber truck doesn't offer anything the Rivian doesn't already do and do it better. Least on paper so far...

 

I assume the delorean refference is to the stainless steel body. Yes, one of the intrigues items. In tesla speak:

You guys know Tesla is a battery company, right? Making cars is a side project. They are there to build the hype, shock the masses, push the EV agenda. Not to look or perform how anyone thinks they should. And it's working, e.g. this conversation.

 

It also costs to much because of it. And I wonder what happens when you collide with another vehicle and how much more dangerous it makes it?

 

Well I still wish it was about hydrogen fuel cells and not damn batteries..

 

I didn't realize the rivian comes with things like a built in air compressor. A built in 500 mile range is nice too with the AWD model. And a 0-60 time of under 3 seconds is nice too.

Being electric, I am sure they both have a very high tow rating, do you know what the rivian is rated for? Does it also have a 4" adjustable ride height, up to 16" of ground clearance?

We use both Li-ion and hydrogen fuel cell forklifts in our distribution centers, they are almost equal as far as cost to buy, maintain, infrastructure, etc. I think batteries will soon pass hydrogen cells as an energy storage medium.

 

Who's cares about an air compressor. It's not like it'll be like yours haha can always add that.

But the big thing is it has independent motors per wheel. Cyber truck won't do that not even the top model. That's better no matter how you break it down. That means it also does 0-60 in under 3 seconds. Plus way better traction with independent motor control.

Approach angle of 34° and departure angle of 30° and up to 14.1" of ground clearance.

It's just..way more truck like to me. And ready to off-road!


And I'm not for air shocks anyways. Overly complex and would do what I'd want it to do anyways. So poor marks for both honestly there for me.

Have any needle nose vise gripes? What I use. Then sit down with the drum side in front if you so you pull the spring towards you. Have something to brace your leg on to help pull.

I don't see battery tech as a viable long term solution. Lithium is dangerous too and the packs are toxic and don't last long enough.

I think if as much resources that are being poured into batteries was put towards hydrogen we'd be better off. So much potential in hydrogen tech.
