Yeah couldn't get it out. Tried pretty much all the tricks in the book. No go. So fuck it.

Got my redneck leaf pack constructed. One Dodge Dakota leaf per side (perfect length for Toyota springs if it's a 3rd gen Dakota) gave me a solid 1.25" lift with my tent on and bedslide installed. That's considerable for a single leaf change per pack. I stole another leaf so I can match the front LT for a short time when I'm in between being able to afford the leafs I really want but I didn't install that one yet, would've been a ton more lift.

Yup 2.5" on the dot, they're perfectly off center for the center bolt just like the 1st gen leafs too.

Can actually thank @rybern for that piece of info. He was doing the OMD leaf mod and stumbled across them. I just got lucky that they had a rather clean Dakota in the yard today, $22 and I'm back on the road better off than before.

 

Nice. I need new leafs for my 95 and want to put the old kings on the front. Not looking for a lot of lift but I bet just one leaf will do. I use it to haul stuff now and then anyways.

 

What's the trick to getting the bolts out of hangers for the leaf pack when taking them out?. Feel like mine are jammed in there pretty good.

 

They get fucked up and seized pretty good some times. So a cut off wheel or sawzall is sometimes the only option.

 

Worth noting, at least I'm pretty sure it's due to the slight lift. That there's a noticable vibe now, the new arch to the leafs may have moved my pinion angle a bit. Only shows up above 65 or so. Still a minor concern all things considered.

 

I left the leaves on the truck. Didn't wanna fight with them. But yeah, usually fire or a cutoff disk.

 

Could just be worn U joints or CB too Id guess. Is an old truck after all.

Generally the best way to add an AAL which is basically what he did. Unless you want to swap bushings

 

I don't really have the time or the desire to open up the leaf pack and slip in some shims right now. But I spent a couple mins making these to drop the CB a bit. I think it's a drivelines vibe, occurs at 65-75 or so, but goes away under acceleration (when the diff rotates upward). So this crap fix should work. We will know in a little bit, need some longer bolts.
