    Are your mounts all bent to shit? I had to take a giant crescent wrench and bend all mine back to get the new arms in. Also had to weld a little on those joints after bending then back.

    So rear mount by the steering rack. The two tabs that the cam/bolt goes there they bend, usually no an issue though.

    The LCA goes into the mounts but the rear mount, its like it should be a bit more towards the front and twisted. I can get the cam into the LCA on the front so could bold it all up. The rear though it gets hung up, won't go through the second cam tab slot, I'd have to twist the lca so it bent upwards.

    This makes sense given the crazy odd wear I was seeing on the cams in the photos I took/posted last night. The whole cam is being torqued up towards the front. This is caused them to bend and wear down a lot

    I don't know how to address this really because I don't think the LCA is bad as my LT LCA does the same thing, in fact it's even further off to the point I cant get that LCA in the mounts because id have to hammer the front side of the rear mount more to widen the gap alot, but there there would be a 1/4'' gap to the rear tab at this point.

    It's like the rear crossmember the steering rack mounts too is tweaked backwards.

    they are off yes. The rear's are like different heights almost.

    I knew they could get bent and off a bit but this seems off by a lot. I don't have a wrench that long but could do something to make them move more will try again tonight.

    This is exactly what it sounds like.

    Those frame side LCA mounts have always looked a bit light duty to me. I have wondered how difficult it would be to tweak them outa shape. You guys seem to have found their limits.

    yeah JD did a nice mod to beef them up...but he's a prerunner so no CV axle in the way. Just ran a tube from the front to the rear.

    They are damn thin. Camburg is coming out with a DIY Center mount kit...i think I want it haha

    Yeah, floor looks to be the perfect size.

    I'm not sure I see the real benefit of that over what we've got already though. Both are soft-top tents, so will have all the same pros/cons (wet, wind being the big cons).

    It's also funny that it says "NOTE: The ALPHA II™ tent is designed to open to the passenger side ONLY" and then the photo they show has it opening driver side. LOL.

    I think it is interesting because it is a hard shell that opens up to handle a full size mattress and still has small closed up dimensions. Also, it can handle all the bedding left in it when closed up. I don't see an issue to opening to the passenger side. I've run mine that way before.

    The hard shells that open vertically are small inside and too long for our trucks unless the excess goes over the cab. And then they are too high.

    I don't follow:
    • Closed dimensions are larger than our tents.
    • We can keep bedding in our tents too - I keep two full size pillows, two Queen comforters, and the Exped in my tent at all times.
    • Our tents weigh less.
    • You missed my point about passenger. Read it again ;), and tell me which side this Subby is opening on...

    The only "benefit" I see to this tent is the hard shell means no cover zipper to get dusty and break - but Ben has issues with the no-zipper pop up too, so I don't think it's necessarily better.

    And yeah, I don't think the pop-up style are great either (for the reasons you mentioned). For me, the only thing better than ours is a wedge - largely for wind noise, ability to heat from the bed, and dry storage of the bed. Even then, only GFC (so far) is really better. But, as you mention, it has the drawback of being high/over the cab.

    GFC id $6800, This is less that a 1/3 of the cost of a GFC. Apples to Oranges. That is another definition of insanity. Buying one of these and expecting it to be what a GFC is.

    Yes, it is heavier than what we have now. Closed dimensions are hardly larger. 60x50 compared to 56x48.

    I am unable to keep all of my bedding in my tent.

    Out of curiosity, why do you feel that way? As in, what's the benefit of straight up in your eyes? (vs. say wedge)

    Or, are you saying that a pop-up camper is the solution (vs. your pop-up style tent)?

    I think the super Pacific camper is the best one I've seen. Take all the good from gfc and vagabond and adds other better features. If I got a camper topper I'd go for that one.




    Got the lcas on tonight as well. What a bitch..And steering rack back on with new bushings. Looking good now. Home stretch

    The battery doesn't though..sadly. probably can rescue it though. But don't have time so probably just replace it hope I can find something in town that works.

    Yeah it was totally dead.

    Took it in today and they tried charging it. I'd be it was okay actually and just needed to be strapped to another battery and charged. But I don't have time to do that. So bought a new one which I hopefully don't regret as the terminals are a bit different.

    But had to swap my lil truck battery into igor to get him to the shop for an alignment. So will swap batteries later.

    Nice to have it out though and moving. Was almost weird getting to close the garage door last night haha
