i have like...5 forklifts in jackson if you want to come out here

is it crazy to just take it to an automotive shop, or really any industrial/automotive place and give them 20 or 30 bucks and just ask them to cycle the suspension? lift it off the ground with a lift or forklift and then just put some heavy ass trailer on the truck untill it squats the springs flat and call that your bumped up travel?

 

Forgot I also checked droop with 6 ton jack stands set in front of the springs and the tires removed.

Shock relocate isn't hard. There really isn't any reason to break down the leaf pack since its close enough on all of our rigs. Buy shocks for full extension and set the bump to prevent bottom out. Glad to help if you decide to do it someday.

 

haha that was more of a joke. i dont think its worth a 6 hour drive to use a forklift

 

So I didn't post this, but took Igor out last weekend. Was fun, but super tiring. I was up to 4am on Thursday putting him together for an alignment in the morning(dejavu). But went to help my dad run the horse race working the radio's. It was pretty fun but didn't get to camp till 1am and people showed up at 4:30. Proceeded to work till 2am. Was very sleep deprived haha

Anyways, Igor did good but some bad shit.

-Body mounts. I didn't catch it but my new body mounts on the passenger side did NOT hold up the body...yay. I was riding on the slider all weekend, so that sucks. Not happy with the ES bushings. Not sure how I'm going to fix it yet.
-Slipping of tranny, I really don't think it is now. I do think I have a bad coil pack. Had a lot of miss fires and it idles really bad when in gear. I had moved a coil pack from #1 to #5 and it followed it. So going to replace those and hope that that's what I've been thinking is slipping.


New air mattress was awesome in the RTT. Is a bit of a bummer as it takes a bit to fill it up so not as fast as the foam one to get to bed or pop up for a quick nap. But SOOOO nice to get to store the sleeping bag and pillows in there. Especially with the dog in the back seat now.


And I need a new CVT cover.

and it was nice to be out and in the hills. insane to me that that was the first time I went camping in the truck this year. But whatever.

Was in a bit of a brain fog the last two days from it but was fun still.


also damn coil packs are pricey. OEM is 85 each. Found some Denso's on Rock auto though...

But yeah, nice to get it out. Dog takes up a lot of space..gotta build a platform for him too.

 

Why my next one will be smaller. Ollie is on the small side of a medium dog, but just a bit smaller would be good. My dream is a Blue Healer, but Im not going to own one of those unless I have land for it to really romp around all the time.

 

Try taking a dog and a kid. Absolutely no room left in the truck with our current configuration.

 

Unfortunately, we plan to do more trips without the dog I think. It's just a lot with a 45lb dog and a kid that is at an age where they can't be trusted not to put everything they find in their mouth

 

They are great dogs. But need a lot of working to be happy.

Ollie is perfect really. lab/collie mix we think. Super chill and content all the time but still very playful for a 9yo dog. You'd never know he was that old.

 

I don't think that's how that works. Baby sitters aren't exactly cheap.

eh I only have 249k on Igor..so I'd rather spend the money for another 250k than hope I get 60k out of those.

I always like when they add the "works great with X" in other words.....wont seem benefit expect in specific situations with specific parts.

 

Interesting. Looks like the entire cross member bolts in. Wish I could see the lower mounts better to understand how they work.

I totally get what you're saying.

I think the point with this kit is that if you're going to relocate your rear shocks anyway, you're likely to get a shock that's in the same ballpark as the ADS that MCM says work with their kit; so, if you can get the kit from a vendor and make everything easier, a lot of people will go for that. If it really is bolt-in, a lot of folks will care less about the shock brand, and more about the fact that they won't have to weld.

Really comes down to whether you're more "build" or "buy" type person.

 

As every third genner starting an Instagram build can tell you, anything is bolt on if you own a drill.

Yeah the cross member is definitely bolt in. Kits not on his site. I know he's had something available for a while but was never bolt in for the cross bar.

It's an interesting kit either way.

 

If your adding a crossmember there....you can just add shock mounts to it...Soo.....
