Good plan not to modify; those are top heavy and will tip over very easily. Make it safer welding a piece of 1/8 steel to the front of the 'feet' or guy wire the top to the wall stud!

 

Didn't one of you guys do a Prerunner to 4x4 conversion a while back?

 

@BossFoss did a 4wd and 5spd conversion to his double cab....then decided to put a diesel in it haha

Still in progress I believe.

This is Brett's busy season so probably won't be until Nov he comes back to it.

Plus he has a working 2nd gen with a GFC on it to use now as well for the camping season.

 

I'm back by the way. This is Will from Laramie. I thought somebody did something like this. Having trouble finding good info on this swap with an Auto trans.

 

There are some others that have done it. Look for double cab swaps as they all have autos.

It shouldn't be too hard though. Only annoying part will be the tcase you end up using and ADD tube and the wiring for that setup.

At this point I'm not planning on going through Boise at all, but may be able to rearrange things to be there Thursday afternoon (assuming you have a couch to crash on or place to setup the GFC) or Saturday midday.

 

The Will I remember from Laramie was an auto shop owner with a username of member 1 million or zillion or something like that.
@トヨダMaster's refference to being back made me remember the Will from Laramie (I think) who got banned a couple of years ago.

Yeah it's still in progress. Swapping to manual was easy just had to trick the neutral safety switch for starting ability. It will be winter for sure before I get back to it. Been de-consructing the old extended cab to sell in my free time. Just need to get the rear leafs off for the DC and it's ready to sell. I was in Laramie Saturday moving some friends down for school. Lame the mt west canceled football.

 

Hey guys, I recently had to cancel a trip due to the virus and now am looking to to do a road trip instead. Looking to explore north western Wyoming. Avoiding yellow stone though. Looking for national Forrest, lakes to fish and camp by for a few days. My buddy isn’t super keen on technical off-roading but fire roads are good. Also looking around Jackson to do some golfing too. Any recommendations?

 

Shadow Mountain around Jackson is NF and has a great view of the Tetons, Green River Lakes is super beautiful north of Pinedale, Beartooth Pass/Chief Joseph are amazingly beautiful roads and have lots of NF both on the Wyoming and Montana sides. My favorite part of Yellowstone is getting there and getting out.

 

Details on the swap? Did it in my shop with a lift and trans jack. I had all the parts leftover from my SAS Taco project(the one in my avatar currently). I think I spent under $400 for everything including new wheel bearings and seals.

We've talked before, I bought some parts from you a couple years ago. Google "toyoda" and convert it to Japanese. "Toyota" is a smidge different. I went with the original spelling.

 

What are you doing with the leftover x-cab and how complete is it? I might be interested. Yeah, the sports thing kinda sucks. Laramie needs those dollars! I'm a small business too so a bit nervous about the near future.
