If you're going to camp in any of the NF "free" sites like Shadow, Curtis, the Gros Ventre, the Greys...better get there in the early afternoon on wednesday or thursday, or most/all the sites will probably be taken by the weekend. Visitation has been at a pre covid level if not higher, and thats WITHOUT tour busses operating. But like i said, if you get a site mid week, youll probably be fine.

I can second beartooth pass/redlodge/cooke city area. Probably still busy, but so beautiful. I loooove going there.

What do you want to spend on golfing? If you're not looking to spend a ton, most of my friends go to the public course in Driggs. If you want to stare at JHMR, teton pines is your best bet..

Cost isn’t really a factor my buddy is really into golf and wants to play a nicer course. I could go either way I just like drink and play.

I’m gonna do some more research on the areas you suggested.
    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Hey Wyoming
I’ve been searching for a bit, maybe you guys can lead me in the right direction. I’m looking to explore north western and western Wyoming. I grew up in Cheyenne and Laramie, but haven’t been on the opposite side of the state since I was really little. I have read through monte’s, dan’s, and others trip reports. What I’m looking for are must sees, and areas of trails/dirt roads that connect or are close to each other. Wish I could do Morrison, but the truck is probably a bit big. Not really interested in Yellowstone park, to many people and I will have my dog with me. Any resources, links, threads, personal insights, and things to look for on Gaia and other maps would be much appreciated. I know it’s a big area and I’m asking for a lot, but getting frustrated searching and asking friends that don’t seem to have much for personal knowledge of the area. Thank you.

Well pretty much all the cool spots are in my write ups. Which of those aren't appealing to you and why?

Had a good weekend. Built a dog platform in the back which turned out better than I thought it would. Super simple too. Worked excellent to have the fridge back there still and the dog. Had some room left over as well.

Then headed to sunlight to test it out. Was great to be in the truck again kicking around. The smoke was bad but not unbearable.

Also there was no snow to be had on top. So we drove as far as we could safely go.

then walked to the huge wash out and looked up to see where the road used to go. Man it went a LONG ways up and over. I'm really sad I'll never get to do it now and mad at myself for never going years before.

The best part by far though was we were pretty much alone. Traffic was super low oddly enough here. We only pasted 4 UTVs and 2 4wheelers as we made our way in. We camped right at the base before the creek and it was great. Super quiet and peaceful.

I SUPER regret not having the rear camera because the Moon was freaking epic looking. Beautiful sliver of a cresent and bright red. Oh well.

Next morning had a Moose walk right by the truck which was cool to see from the tent. slept in till 9 amazingly. Was still in the little field as we left.

    o5GtC24ucMcfAU1tLPesHsYZJLN_ut7rdWFxqfO0_74a4df5a551bb0287c44819000a250d8edd7593c.jpg

We then stopped at Lee City to do the hike to Copper Lake.

And my god this was a freaking hike. only 2.25ish miles long but gains 2,100' elevation. Fuckin hell haha Was pretty though, would have been breath taking views without the smoke...it was still breathtaking because it was damn steep and literally uphill almost the entire way.

I guess there are two more lakes further up, but we were pooped and ate lunch and took a nap. Even the dog was tired haha

The smoke really blew in on the way down and is bad here now. Was almost as tiring going down as it was going up.

But the dog platform worked great! Ollie loved it.

Super pooped after that walk though.

Hey I’m sorry if I came across as though I didn’t enjoy your right ups. That is far from how I feel about them, I really enjoyed reading about your trips. You guys are gave me the urge to want to see that part of the state. I wish I could have gone with you guys. Seeing all the places you go and know about I was hoping to get some tips on areas to explore and look for. There is so much of the state I didn’t get to see growing up there that I’m overwhelmed looking for places to go. I’m hoping that you guys that know the area well could point me in the right direction. My favorite way to travel is to find an area and just kind of wander. I prefer to stay away from people/pavement and enjoy trails/roads that give me a little challenge and great views. Thank you.
Your last post are the kind of places I’m looking for. I’m jealous you get to call it home.

Sorry I should have been more clear. If you've been through the write ups, all those places are talked about in pretty good detail. Bit of work with google would point you too all of the places I talk about in the write ups, including the post I made above.

So I don't understand what you mean by:

Cause the write ups have pretty much everything you are looking for.

    GFC is nice eh?

    have fun with surgery.

Felt nice to be out again. Gotta do something to the rear suspension next.

I've honestly been thinking about getting a set of skyjackers to Frankenstein into my alcans haha worked great on Frankenstein. Yours too for that matter.

Least do for now to get it off the bump stops. This winter going to do playing and shock relocation and maybe box it.

    Wow man.

Cool congrats! So are you going to live there or rent it?

It was all about the RedHead this weekend in Zane's garage. A lot of good work happened. Here are some pics.

Some interesting things were learn on this day. They might be common knowledge to others, but we had to learn it the hard way.

One example of Toyota shenanigans was that only half of the oem tab plates were spot welded on. The other half were held in place by a couple of regular type welds. Both had to be air chiseled off. Hopefully Zane's neighbors will forgive him for all the noise.

    Side by side.

Another interesting discovery was that the diameter of the adjuster wheels on the 4 asseblies are not the same. The back disc of an assembly is smaller than the front and therefore fits differently between the tabs.

How did you make adjustments to the tabs then? I found them to be keyed pretty tightly..although filament was terrible otherwise
