Unless the bearing is worn out to the point that it is allowing translation of the axle, there should be no need to replace a seal you just installed. Likewise, it would be difficult to damage while installing the axle shaft unless you really screw something up.

 

Yeah it'll be fine. I've removed mine multiple times before for diff stuff and nothing bad has ever happened.


In fact you do it all the time with CV axles too if that helps ease your mind. Basically the same thing, one is just heavier hahaha

 

That's a lot of ATF, I thought it was a typo when the FSM said the pan held up to 9 quarts.

 

Looking bueno so far, can see my four solenoids that are gonna get changed on the left.

 

Why changing them out? Upgrade?

 

Nah, one of my shift solenoids is sticking and the other is high impedance. I figure since I have to drop the pan to change them I'd do the timing solenoid and the lockup one as well.

Yeah, the cruiser is getting a piece by piece restoration of the drivetrain. Taking care of every leak and the little things the PO fixed oddly or neglected. I figured a parts washer would help, I wash lots of parts and got tired doing it on the ground on a metal pan. I got this thingy and put it on a furniture mover filled with 10 gals of mineral spirits.

This is true, and also why I refuse to buy a house that doesn't have an out building or land to build one. But anything is better than the chicken coop Monte has, it's a garage for ants haha

 

Yeah i'd take anything that would fit a vehicle in it at least right now hahaha


And I know. This is why I will eventually have the 2-3 attached garage and a shop to boot. I have actually gotten to work in a shop that was big enough. Im sure you remember it

I have a good place to work right now, I'm in no hurry to buy a place just to have to move later on. I'm not a realty guy, zero ambition to be a landlord, I don't need any extra debt even if it comes with extra equity. Looking for the right place for me, no one else.

BOI2, that design can ship one million units per day. $150M just for the robots and automation equipment, let alone the land and building itself.

 

Yeah they’ll need about 2500 of Nampa’s finest to run the place, will be interesting for local businesses for sure.
I can take you on a tour of the FC, that would require us to actually meet in person though.

 

Pretty sure none of us that obsess over a single vehicle model that stopped being made almost 20 years ago fit into the “normal” category. I’m ok with it.
