Am I the only one who would work just about anywhere I had cell reception if I could work from home? Sounds like a great way to travel and explore some awesome places. I think it would be pretty damn nice to have some mountain views in a mobile office rig lol.

No I mean if I did the kind of work that could be done like that I'd love it. But I think those kinds of jobs are a bit hard to come by.

The thought's crossed my mind, but I'm not sure how well it would work out.

If I had a few hours to do here and there maybe, but trying to work 8 hours a day out of the back of my truck, no thanks.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
I think I enjoy the idea but like keeping work and home lifes as separate as possible. I am also too much of a hands on worker and would not survive just being on the phone and computer all day.

Yeah, came outta the cruiser. Front output shaft seal started puking hardcore and on a cruiser the flanges are actually shafts that you press out of not 1, not 2, but three bearings after removing the extension housings. So since I have to remove the case and pry the extension housing off and press the shafts out anyway, I'm just gonna do the bearings too. Doing the trans output seal, case input seal, and rear output seal and bearings too since I'm already in there. It's a pain to remove this thing and it weighs a ton. Thought about doing the underdrive hi range gearset too since it would effectively make my 4.10s into 4.51s which would be nice. But it's proving hard to get a vendor to sell me a set. I guess wherever the gears are being hobbed is impacted heavily by covid.

Excessively overbuilt, the land cruiser motto. That's my kind of engineering.

It's got enough cooling capacity to run an underdrive gear set at highway speeds?

The consensus is that yes it does, it's a 10% underdrive so fairly modest. The case is all aluminum and finned on the underside, holds a good deal of fluid as well compared to a taco case. I would wager that decreasing the OCI is important though and that GL5 for high pressure is more of a necessity since they're just regular helical cut gears and not a planetary setup.

And yes it is overbuilt, the upside is I rarely have to fix anything. The downside, when I do it's fairly involved haha

IMO - those things are nothing more than litter.

Glad the one off lockhart is gone before everyone decided to check it out.

Some Local Moab famous slack liners took responsibility for removing it. They voiced the same thoughts on it being litter and wrong and the amount of problems it caused after being "discovered". They have photos of them taking it apart and stuff.

    Kudo's to them.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, if you die looking for treasure because you didn't come prepared or couldn't handle the challenge that's on you.

    Sure.

But to me, if that's what it took for you to go outside...you're going outside for the wrong reasons anyways.

It was amazing how many people our SAR teams had to go get who were looking for that thing.

What law did they break? They removed someone's trash.

How long does something need to be a part of the landscape before it's consider to be a part of history?

    Interesting thought.

    1000 years old?

Shit most the mines we all go gawk at are barely 50 years old in some cases, most over 100 of course.
