    The hardware is most certainly from Japan though, it's the same as what you'd find in a LC or 4Runner. All the philips looking fasteners are JIS, though a good #2 PH does sometimes work.

    I've had luck using a #3 philips on those two screws, but yeah if you have the JIS set use that in the future

    I do know that the drivetrains were shipped completed from Japan and contain the same fasteners, if they used American Philips head on everything else (which I'm sure they didn't) that would be pretty sloppy, it would be only the Taco since the 4R comes from Japan too.

    Well you still have to use the right size, I've never seen his set, but you can't use the medium one for those large screws

    Yeah, I meant phillips/jis. I now have 3 sizes of jis screw drivers whereas, the last time I had this cover off, I didn't. That is when it got screwed up I think. The middle size jis worked perfectly on the other one.

    I'll second the Astro Tools ones. But will add the standard size one at M8 size can be a pain. I have both the standard and the XL and the XL is much nicer for M8 size stuff. t the 1/2 and M12 stuff it is a pain too though lol.

    They do have a smaller unit now but i think it only goes to M6 size stuff.

    Ive also done the install with just a piece of flat metal with hole drilled in the bolt size and then just used an impact to set the nut sert

    drilling the head off might be the best bet. Or go and get a left hand turn drill bit and I bet as you start drilling the screw will just come out since it's just seated in plastic.

    Good to know. I'll check out the sizes. Cool idea with the impact too. Im sure that'll work in a pinch.

    whew. Finally think I have everything needed for my wiring project for the little truck. Turned out to be more expensive than I wanted..as always..but should be nice.

    Just need to figure out how I want to mount my fogs next. Then lots of wiring fabbing routing and little metal work as well. Should be fun.

    My 5VZ is very quiet now. The only sound that the muffler couldn't tame entirely was the rattle/fart noise that the 5VZ is famous for on acceleration at 1900-2200rpm, but it is way more quiet than I would have though possible, so now it sounds like a diesel on acceleration through that range. I love it now, its got a deep rumble of an idle and a little noise with a rev, but can't even hear a hum on the highway or around town.

    Not giant at all believe it or not, smaller than the stock water heater. Just a good design, they even make another model that would even take out that rattle/fart noise called their hush model which has packing as well as the inner design this one has.

    I've always felt like mine was pretty quiet. All I can really hear with it is that beer can we bailing wired to it when we did the shock relocate. That thing rattles like crazy. I've left it on only for the good memories it brings back each time I hear it. :thumbsup:

    Got the tail lights in the Tacoma working, wired in some new harnesses.

    Replaced the chain in the dodge t case. That bitch was floppy. No more horrendous banging in 4wd. Also found out that the cap for a welding bottle makes a great seal driver for the rear shaft seal. Also found out that if you smash your hand with a dead blow against a transfer case...it fucking hurts.

    ya. in 4hi or lo (way more pronounced in 4lo) it would jump the teeth on the cogs and cause the front drive shaft to also jump. It was stretched enough it was slapping the bottom of the case and gouging it. Only cost me a sunday and $163 in parts. Was a pretty fun job honestly

    I did the resonator on the LC, didn't need it at all on the Taco. I've got one CAT and that muffler and it's perfect.
