Sorry, I meant I was worried about it damaging the lower fabric of the GFC as it pushes that out the extra 2"... not sure how the fabric attaches to the frame, etc.

Ah, gotcha. It does push on the fabric some when closing. That’s why it’s important in my opinion to fold it over for a second and deflate as much as possible so the extra ~2” of material falls below the metal edging allowing the tent material to easily push internally to avoid being smashed when closing the tent. I do have to occasionally push in the excess tent material if it doesn’t accordion correctly when closing. But it is nowhere near as much work to do like it was with the excess material popping out of a RTT.

I should also note that even with the factory mattress pads I’d have to occasionally make sure to push in tent material that managed to push out rather than in, so it hasn’t changed that part of the process much at all.

And how about when the tent is open? Doesn't put a ton of pressure on the fabric? (Does it stay sandwiched between the rails, or does it pop up a bit on the edges?)

Part of me wants you to tell me that it doesn't stay down/sandwiched, b/c then I won't want to spend $7K quite so badly.

Eh, it kind of bunches up really. Since the mattress seems to not quite be 52” wide it’s really close to fitting so it doesn’t pop up much. Usually I’ll have a slight bow on one side (my guess is that there are internal baffles that makes two air pockets somewhat). But again, it’s not enough of a bow to effect anything as it flattens out as soon as you lay down.

I’ll get some pics of it to give you an idea what it looks like. But, it does work ;)

Yeah that's pretty sweet. The new hinges look great too.

    It will fit

Yeah I wouldn't be complaining as an original owner.

Is a nice improvement though and worth the price raise I think. Lots of other colors available too now.

    See @turbodb

So when you putting in your deposit? Haha

Planning on getting a megamat 10 MW. 25.6" wide.

One for now but two if needed in the future. I feel like that should be a more versatile setup anyways for solo adventures, or moving one out of the way, etc.

    @turbodb I figure it out.

All you have to do is "sign" your RTT. Then auction it off as the famous Turbo. You'd get like 3k for it. There's half your GFC

Also how the fuck have you not just gone over to Dan's yet and put your mattress in his GFC? I was pretty sure he offered to you that you could do that..

I think that’s my retirement plan if I decide I’m willing to give up a little bit of off road capability. Buy an access cab F-150 and throw a 4WC flat bed on it.

Yuge!, weight gap. You'd likely exceed the GVWR of a first gen with the camper alone.

Nice switch panel - would be great to have so many switches in such a small footprint.

Nah, I'd want the tent to be worth more, not less. I'd need to get you to sign it!

Dan did offer - at least to climb up in there and look - on our last trip. But, to be honest, I didn't feel fully comfortable putting my bedding in his tent - for his sake or mine - given the pandemic situation we found ourselves in at the time. Sure, things probably would have been OK, but I'd have felt terrible if they weren't.

Cross post, the boat that i just bought lol. Hopefully i can sell the current one quickly in the spring!

The angle of the pic makes it look a bit smaller than it is, 25' long and 9' wide with a 4.2' draft. smaller freeboard so it sits a bit low on the water. This thing is like driving a rwd porsche, compared to the current boat which is more of a mini van. Do it wrong and it can get out of hand and on its side real quick lol.

    Cant wait to get racing!!!!

It's pretty slick. Can't wait for it to work. Could have used my new fogs last night in the small blizzard I drove home in. haha

pffff no one know who the fuck I am any more.

Tell you what...why don't we both sign it? and then you can also sign mine and then we can both sell them for thousands and both get GFCs? hahahaha

And true I suppose. Well at some point. You probably could as Im sure he'll be just an interested to see how it fits in there.

    Sweet man. Don't flip it.

and yeah its bad. Probably bought new in 95 hahaha I love how it brags about 16 bit audio  will upgrade that later after I do some cab deadening. The single cab is loud as hell.

Shoot now I'm looking at one of those Expeds...man 350 is a lot for a mattress though. Also I'm not sure if it would be an issue having the mattress inflated and trying to get in/out through the floor panels, since I don't have a side door and ladder. I suppose you could do two of the single mattresses, but then that's 400.

plus you'd have a seam or a place you'd fall into which would suck.

good point about the floor though. is it not short enough that you could leave an end panel out?

I'm not short enough to leave an end panel out haha.

It looks like there are two sizes, the 10M is only 41" wide and 72" long, so that doesn't seem wide enough. The 10LW is 52" wide and 77.6" long (I think that's the one Dan is talking about) - that would pretty much fill up the GFC in both length and width, so not much room to move it around.

I have no real issue with the setup in the GFC - I added a 1" memory foam topper to the 2" mattress and it's fine to me. However, if I could upgrade to something like the Exped with minimal drawbacks I would probably do it.
