Haha I used to be slumming it, now I’m the slum lord
It’s just the cool part of Wyoming. Seriously the people suck ass, in a monumental way, but as soon as you get out past where the tourists go (they don’t leave the beaten path much) it’s not so bad. I climbed a peak in gtnp last weekend and had the whole climb up, down, and summit to myself. If you want to camp or ride dirt bikes, jumping over to Idaho 40 min away avoids all the tourists.
Alpine has been absolutely inflated to where Jackson was like 5 years ago…which is all still super expensive. Still a red neck vibe which is nice. All the hippies move to driggs and the red necks move to alpine. It’s a nice self segregation haha

 

It is crazy how busy the Jackson area is but head 40 minutes away and it's hardly any crowds. We were up there two weeks ago and couldn't get out of Jackson fast enough. Made it to alta (Teton canyon campground think was the name where we stayed) and there was hardly anyone. Campground was like half full but we had the hiking trails to ourselves

 

We spent the day fishing in Jackson then made our way to Alpine last week and the redneck vibe was spot on. Palisades is like the redneck riviera of the mountain west. It was awesome. Watched a guy sink his SxS to the roof and use ratchet straps to pull it out with his truck. It got the job done kinda…

 

This is mostly what I think about when I think of Lytton.

 

Bwahaha ya that sounds right. People still ride sleds to the bar in the winter, so it’s a nice change from the bs in Jackson.

I know I live in a tourist town and I’m not allowed to be jaded…but come on fuck off. You’re all ruining the place you’re trying to enjoy. I hope enough people have a terrible time it keeps the crowds at bay the next few years

also… when tourists complain about the crowds and number of people in a town they are visiting…like, for real? You are the people you’re complaining about. Stfu

Oh no. We could lose 1/3 of the tourists and still be at capacity. The housing shortage is so bad we could add 30% more housing and still be in. A crisis. I’ll be fine until the caldera blows

 

I have friend that’s in the forest service up in Jackson. They just moved but he cited the tourists as the main reason. I guess the numbers have been through the roof lately.

 

the mountains are still bad ass, the snow is still world class, the biking is incredible, the rivers are perfect blah blah blah, tourists or not, im here for the mountains and my sports and ill continue to do them and avoid the tourists as best i can

 

oooooh thats right! We did eat there. Man thats shitty..crazy.

They are up everywhere. Permit systems will just be come more and more a thing in places.

was pretty cool. River current powered the whole thing. Just was held in place by an over head cable hahaha

 

Normally it's a two vehicle transport... But we all know Frank is not normal.

 

Ours was okay. Didn't get 3 days off so kind of just bumbled around. Still went camping though saturday which was okay. We didn't sleep very well, not sure why..but was still good.

 

Mine was great. Got to spend quality time with some friends and fam.

 

I'm loosing track of days. What's a weekend?

It's phenomenal! But I'm a long ways away from making it happen permanently.

Glad I'm able to enjoy it while I can though!

Maybe I should add a snorkel and put another 20K miles on mine so I can sell it for $40K. You know, single driver and MT must be worth at least 5 large, don't you think?

LOL. Same thing happened (to a much lesser extent) with the 4Runner. Turned out to be a good time to sell. Crazy.
