Hello all..

I found this thread and see if any Tacomas in the state.. My brother is in Wyoming for the vacation to see the mountain which it was used in the movie called "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"

Looks like great state. I haven't been there yet. I have been to Utah for Final Four in '96.

 

Working on a project. I think I have all the essentials gathered.

 

Does said project have a consumption destination? I would like to find myself there...

 

Rougher than I recall, enough to keep you thinking, but not too bad. The 2nd Gen cruised back out of the lake with minor difficulty and one need for some stacking.

I did hit my skid, sliders, crossmember, diff/axle/shock mounts, exhaust, shackle hangers, bumpers, frame, gas tank, and kissed the drive shaft though.

We were happy to see it standing and in good condition. Wish I had more time in the area, would have hit you up for a beer.

 

No worries, between work and the kid I don't have a ton of free time this year for extra curriculars. Probably the thing I miss most, time for myself and being able to throw myself into projects or adventures. Kid is fun, but it's a big life change for sure. Glad you guys made it in out with no issues.

 

This salsa has about a 21 day lifespan where it meets the creators standards. We'll have to see how it all plays out. This batch was built for a specific purpose but I doubt it will require all of it.

 

It launched me to the other side of the lake. Pretty cool place to kayak. Wish we had stayed longer but I'm sure it won't be the last time I'm there.


Passed a samurai on 37s on the way up the switchbacks. He didn't seem too confident that we would make it. I don't think it was much worse than when we made the bench a few years ago. I'm currently on P rated ATs and didn't have much trouble. Water crossing was deeper than I remember.

 

I am very jealous. That place is special.

Also FWIW Monte, I had the same engine coolant temps climbing up cyclone pass as Morrison.

Was looking at the engine load percentage and think that's the culprit. Like 70%+ on the steep, slow sections. Between the slush box and tall gears, I really have to push my foot into it to get it to maintain any momentum. I bet a set of gears would alleviate most of the issue.

Interesting. But I'm certain you are correct. I'll have to watch the temps more just to see. Never have really monitor them that closely.
