Granted that is bad but the real damage was the perch..

So looks like I get to fully pull the engine and do some welding.

At least I'll get to touch up my bad welds on the bad of my coil buckets..

Not that bad but they were getting there.

Bummer about the perch, I know how much of a PITA that is.

Next venture must have stopped making those. Not on their site. Which is fine. I like the DMZ ones better anyways.

Was down that way yesterday. Man it was Smokey in Riverton. Hopefully the wind helped clear out the smoke while not helping the fire!

Today is one of the first days can actually make out the Big Horns during the day. Been able to see them as the sunrises but they disappear once it is up. Today can at least make out the outlines!

it's cleared up here a lot. But no major fires in the area really. And starting to get small rain storm cells(hopefully no lightening) which has helped too.

Glad to hear. Its getting cool at night here. First snow in the mountains shouldnt be to far off if things continue this way which will help too.

Theres been some good lightning down here but luckily no more fires (fingers crossed)

Oh right your shop yes? Hopefully that all gets done! Although honestly it'll snow haha but never that much where you are and it'll melt off fast. So I wouldn't be too worried.

Yup the shop. Its at least all framed! Its a lot of work since Ive done everything on it so far minus setting the trusses solo. My parents came out to help with that. Its been interesting. Cant get the equipment I would like (like a telehandler) so we have had to make do....like using a man lift as a "crane"

And thanks for the wife who rode in the basket as we set the last couple of them. She got the fun job of having to reach under the basket to undo the straps since we couldnt reach from inside anymore (we had a scissor lift inside)

But i cant wait to be done and get to work inside it. So I can stop having to do stuff like this. Which started out with the wife clipping a deer and just some simple replacement parts (hood, fender, and headlight...luckily nothing structural or like the radiator). Plus scored some after market headlights for her from the person we got the body parts from. But that snowballed into the A/C system being low and then discovering a small leak, finding out the rear main seal decided it had enough, and one of the heater core hoses having a small drip. Which that promptly turned from a simple O-Ring replacement to having to replace the parts cause old, heat cycled plastic :(

Oh thats awesome you are doing it yourself.

I don't think I'll ever do that. My Dad did his first and 2nd shop himself. It took so damn long. Granted he worked 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off which didn't help. But still. When the 2nd one burned down via arson after spending near 2 years building it and it was all but done. He just paid to have it built after that. I don't have that kind of time at all anymore. So props to you!

And yeah, that doesn't look fun. Least it wasn't snowing!

I didnt want to do it all by myself. But trying to find a contractor right now is incredibly hard. I lucked out with the contractor for concrete as he had some dead time between one project and then starting a big job in Yellowstone. Pretty much everyone we called said not this year and maybe sometime next summer.

Hopefully it wont take toooo long to get mostly finished. Luckily I'm not working so have time. But its slow when you are by yourself. Trying to lift a sheet of plywood via a ladder and get it nailed by yourself is quite interesting (since its 16ft walls have to lift the second sheet and set it ontop of the bottom sheet).

And yeah no snow. But last year it was having to change a thermostat housing on our other car when it was ~10 degrees out. We do have another garage (a 2.5 car garage) but it has its own problems. Mainly being its not heated either. So 10 degrees outside vs maybe 12 degrees in that garage lol.

Yeah mine isn't heated either and for that matter have to have the door open since the vehicles won't fit in it and have space to work. So always fun to do winter projects! haha can't wait to have a heated space for that.

That makes sense. We aren't hoping to build till next year so works out for us.

I'd have to have the door open too to work on most stuff now that you mention it. The main issue is the door height is only 6'6". The truck measure basically right there with the roof rack bars on. Our camper wont fit at all. We've talked a bit that once the new garage is done, possibly gutting the current garage and insulating it then having a natural gas heater in there just to keep it at like 40 degrees in the winter. It is a nice garage though. Fits two cars comfortably and then has a like 15' wide section next to the cars for a work space. Or a nice area to store lawn mowers, atvs, ect.

Im sure itll be a bit easier for you with more options for contractors. Down here some of the bigger projects (like building a house) are already scheduled out through next summer.
