Why?

I think it always had a limit but was like 8 i think..

 

I tried to creat a PM earlier and the system would not allow me too because I added more than 3 people to the participant list. I then went and reviewed other conversations I am in. Some I started and some I was invited. If they have less than 4 participants, I can add others up to 4 total. If the number is already at 4 or more, there is no 'invite more' button.

 

interesting. Yeah Im in PMs with like 7 or more people at times.

I am curious what you guys familiar with ADS stuff think about some of the things being discussed in this thread. Like ADS now shipping COs without a nitrogen charge? And Headstrong being sold to Trail Gear and ADS being sold to Holley?

A lot of crazy shit has happened in the past 20 months, all with seemingly interconnected consequences but all this sounds crazy to me.

I'm not surprised Holley bought a suspension company at all, they've been needing one to add to the catalog for a while, QA1 eating into their business too much. Holley owns almost all the competition in american car stuff these days.

 

Wow, had no idea. Will be interesting to see if ADS remains somewhat independent or what.

Huh odd and shitty. Trail gear just buying out every mom and pop shop known to man I guess.

Wheelers sucks to buy from too now and customer service blows imo compared to what it was.

Odd about the nitro. And hopefully nothing changes too much from being owned by Holley. That would be a fast way to kill a great shock company. Should have ordered mine sooner I guess ha

 

Yeah, agree. It is way easier to acquire as opposed to develop new business. Trail gear is the big beast whith Wheelers, All-Poo and Low Range and now Headstrong if this latest is true.

 

Almost as bad as Microsoft buying Activision blizzard

 

That pretty much just leaves SDHQ as the last independent holdout with any presence. The Holley news is interesting and I don't have any reason to believe it is bad news. Their catalog is not at all homogenous, they don't do what trail-gear does. They are in the business of expanding capability not expanding a name.

 

I could give a shit about Blizzard but knowing Microsoft, they'll ruin activision

 

I don't know anything about Activision, but Microsoft has a bad record with its acquisitions. Nokia comes to mine.

 

Probably depends on how independent they leave it.

Xbox is reasonably successful, and MS has generally done well in the gaming space. Halo, Minecraft, of course, Flight Sim... usually b/c they don't treat it like Windows. Even LinkedIn - which seemed crazy to acquire at the time - has mostly been left alone and while I think it's generally horrible, it seems to be amazingly popular and makes fistfulls of cash.

Edit: Nokia was a cluster b/c MS tried to get into a space (phones) where there was just no competing with the two behemoths. The right move there was to ditch the OS and get Office and search onto the platforms (which they did, and is the way to make money there).

 

With the exception of minecraft, Microsoft Studios is where game developers go to die... or they get a fire lit in their souls and spin off a new company and take their IPs

 

Activision is one of the last major dev companies from the old days, this will be their end. Successful business and quality games are unfortunately not linked metrics, I personally have no interest in whether microsoft makes more money off of the deal, I just dig being able to buy a solid game. Indie games are where it's at now for quality.

 

Yeah, I admit to not knowing anything about games or their ability to make money. Will be interesting to watch to see if it ends up like Minecraft or like Nokia.

 

IMO, these acquisitions are not going to be a good thing for our 1st gens. That trend started some time ago, but the downward slope has turned into a spiral.

 

We've been on our own for a while I think, I'm okay with it, support lasted long enough for me to get comfortable making things that work myself and ultimately that has led to better results than off the shelf parts anyway.

 

Yeah I think there are a few others but smaller. Not a lot of options now though.

Xbox is good but one small fuck up away from dying IMO and PC's taking over and Playstaions filling the console voids. But who knows what gaming will change to in the near or distance future. Its pretty crazy how fast that stuff can change.

Agreed. The days are numbered for sure on these rigs...sadly.
