    Sorry to hear that. :(

And i was at a place next door to my current work, which is not near my house ;)
That sounds like a pretty sweet gig. Do you get to wear a cap like a limo driver?

Hopefully. It's right up my alley, just a question of if I convinced them of that.

If I were to wear a hat it would be the biggest Stetson I could find with special cutouts for my headset:rofl:. We’re a Jeans a cowboy boots operation, no tacky polyester uniforms with epaulettes here. It’s been pretty good to me, in 16 years I’ve never had to utter the dreaded phrase “commuting to reserve.”

The videos from Red Lodge are insane, whole of downtown was a River. We’ve been inundated with the evacuees, their general sentiment is; Why don’t you guys do more to control the weather and why the hell is it still snowing in June:rolleyes:? Me: mmm I hear California’s nice this time of year:facepalm:.

Foundation is poured! Bit higher out if the ground than I'd like. But the stone hut during the dig sort of forced our hand.

Dirts still cheap relative to other building materials, have them level out your crawlspace though. You’ll be surprised how many times you have to go down there to do stuff. Congratulations! Looks like an awesome spot!

yeah i really wanted a rat slab..but whatever.

If they don't I will haha

But yeah, should be fairly easy to build up the dirt around it and not have a step grade off the house. Plus the higher the house it, the higher my windows on the 2nd floor and the better I can see the Beartooths lol

I am wondering why the garage side is as high though. would have saved a lot of work if they had just done the garage side 1 foot lower.

Nice! Keep on posting progress, I love watching buildings evolve.

At the end of the day, having the house sit higher off the ground will actually be a lot better for it (from a moisture, bugs, etc. perspective), so you can look at it that way :).

+1 on the "down in the crawlspace all the time."

Monte - the more height/space you can get them to give you down there, the happier you'll be. Crawling around without worrying about hitting your head is SO much nicer than having to slither around on your stomach. And make sure that the builders keep that space clean (or clean it out after they're done). I hauled hundreds of pounds of old rotten cut-offs out of my crawlspace when I moved in. Would have been so much easier if it was just cleaned up before they put in the first floor.

Which side is the garage? The one with the grass in it?

Yeah I'm sure it'll be fine. Just need to make sure they do the dirt in a way that I like and that its not too steep a grade. I'd rather have a low grade. But they will have to do some build up to get our front porch and back patio right.

I wanted a 5' crawl space and a rat slab. But couldnt afford it apparently. So 4' it is sadly. Won't be terrible but won't be great either.

Hoping to rake it tonight hopefully if they aren't going to do it. Which I don't mind.

Garage is the side with the grass. Should be 28x28. Not huge. But not bad.

One of my neighbors is building their house and is a contractor for AAC blocks. Which seems cool. I guess its 41% cheaper to build with and that was before lumber took off. Plus 71% efficiency. Was so much better he told me he has bad folks with their framing package delivered send it back and switch to AAC. Im not going to do that ha But it does make me hopeful that maybe I can get a shop sooner than later made out of that stuff especially since my neighbor will be a contractor that works with it. Shooting for 40x60 or larger. Which would be larger than my house...ha

    Good freaking lord...

That was my favorite access to the Beartooths in this area. East Rosebud. It's the river than nearly wiped Roscoe off the map. There is a small community of people in this valley and at the lake lots of private cabins. Doesn't look like anyone will be getting to their cabin for a while.

I can not believe how much the river changed stuff there. Utterly insane.

Damn! I camped two nights at the spot you recommended just off that road. Looks like it would have been underwater.

Part of me actually thinks if they didn't fully repair it it would be kind of cool. Like the Wood River valley to get to Kerwin.

But probably will given all the cabins back there and its a MAJOR trail head for the Beartooths.

Yeah man! Pretty wild! Hard to imagine that small river getting that big. Just insane.
