I totally agree with you on the Jackson perspective, it is not the town I moved to in ‘02. Dubois on the other hand is the ideological opposite, however it’s getting more expensive as well. I never assume someone’s budget or likes/dislikes so

 

There was no assumption made here either. He said he was fleeing VA to get away from what Jackson is, and the pricing was just informational. I'd hate for him to move there and find it's no better than where he left.

While I never thought he was a good rally driver I respected his ability to bring automotive insanity to the masses. It's a huge loss to the current generation of gearheads as a point of inspiration.

 

Yeah he was a big influence in car culture more than anything. Legend with the crazy stunts in videos. Big bummer.

Monte, I seems like forever ago you helped me with the GM alt install. We used a 4 pin trailer harness plug to adapt to the trucks system. At that time you also made an adapter for the OEM alt so it would be an OSK carry item and an easy trail swap. I have a question about that adapter.

I've given up on using a GM alt when this last one started to die and have started using my original OEM alt again. Unfortunately, the battery light on the dash is on and I can't figure out why. Do you think it could be the way that adapter is wired?

Big step getting cabinets in!

Been enjoying the warmer weather to work on our garage (still). Let me tell you it's much nice when it's close to 30 degrees and sunny instead of single digits!

 

Looks like it's going to be a great living space!

It's been real quiet here but no one here is really building a truck, or arguing about trucks. Not much to talk about regarding past and future trips as it seems impossible to get the band back together. So yeah, in some ways there's not much to add here recently.

Only two trips on my radar. This weekend a short local trip to enjoy a campfire and break in Znüni. Then putting together a longer trip for May timeframe to hit Moab, Monument valley, Sedona, Mojave, DV and then grab a sandwich in Bishop. But that's just boring ol van camp lol

 

That's a pretty hot time of year in DV/Mohave

 

I've been to Sedona a couple of times such a beautiful place just seems gross with how many people are there all the time.

 

Could be 105, could be 85 and gorgeous (less likely).

If you don’t hate heat, it’s not an awful time to visit. Foot traffic should be lighter as it gets closer to summer.

 

I went in February a couple years ago to ride the bike and it was pretty quiet. Not nearly the shitshow as when I was there in tourist season.

Probably gonna go in a month to escape the snow and get on the bike for a few days.

 

It was really weird the couple of times I went. I'd be hiking on a trail and the views are just awesome but then I'd come up on like 30 people and it's just hard passing people on a hiking trail. Kind of annoying cuz people are playing music and talking real loud so it doesn't really feel like you're in nature

 

hmm interesting. It shouldn't be. But honestly is possible. I regert the trailer harness thing, but the GM to Toyota adapter wasn't around then. Otherwise that clearly would have been the way to go.

Do you have a photo of it to see what wire is going where? On the OEM one if you ignore the trailer plugs and look at the wire colors past where I spliced them, they should be 1 to 1 the same colors.

Sorry the GM alts aren't working out. That's annoying.

What are you doing to the garage? Can't wait to work on mine. or really just in mine. Need to try and insulate it before next winter. Will see though, already have remodel plans for the upstairs and im not even living there yet

Yeah true. But I mean, we all have a lot of other shit going on. We don't always talk about trucks.

But if we want too...heres a fun one. 200gal tank in the SX haha need to get the frame plates for it. A LOT of weight back there.

No trips here yet. But know we will be doing stuff this year. Did almost nothing last year save for 2-3 over nighters.
