I am curious, what makes you think that your truck is half a ton lighter? That it is 2600lbs btw. I shaved as much weight as I can so far. Once I get a stock front bumper it'll be as light as I can go, but I do have some extra steel on the frame from reinforments, so I should be right around 3750 with me sitting in the truck.

 

How did you arrive at that number? Is it based on something in Toyota's owners manual?

 

Just did 115 on 35" muddies yesterday, it isn't as sketchy as you'd think. Also shooting for mph in the quarter is still a weird goal haha

 

He said it would be the first 4x4 (Tacoma?) to do it.

 

Maybe... certainly the first to document it at least. Trap speed isn't usually what people are using as their main metric, it's a supplemental metric to the time to get an idea of how you're making your power or where it is being wasted. Also he must mean stock 5vz 1st gen because there are some really fast 2nd gen and 3rz first gen trucks, some of which are 4x4.

 

Google shows a 2001 Tacoma 4x4 extra cab as 3540 from Edmonds. I've got no spare, no hitch, no bumpers, no back seat. That's worth a few lbs, but I know there's some weight added in steel to my truck, then add my weight back in and I came up with it. I will try to weight it at some point.

Not the first but certainly one of the few to pursue it. Being a he first is too bold of a claim haha

I looked around and haven't seen many Tacoma 4x4s on the strip inside the internet. The 3rz takes boost well so that helps them, but I really haven't seen them. Most are 2wd in that sphere.

As far as trap speed, you get a sticker for 100mph that should equate to an E/T in the 13s here, but i figure set something as a goal so I did.

 

I'm pretty sure my owners manual says my truck weighs 3750.

You need someone stock from California to chime in since they're required to have a scale confirm their weight for taxation purposes

 

I have scales around, was hoping to find one here this week but due to what I did to the rear suspension over the weekend I want to fix it (pull leafs) before I drive it much further. At ride height the stock rear shocks are maxed out and the ride is still too dam stiff.need it to squat off the line.

 

You need it to squat with out fast rebound (or youll transfer weight off the rear too fast and lift the rear) which is an even taller order. You want to try my old rancho rears?

 

Let me figure out the current setup and I'll let you know. I figured the Monroe's would be soft, but had to say in it's current state with the rear springs still having so much spring in them. The solution would be a 4link setup on a 8.8 but I am not willing to commit the money nor compromises of that. I still want it to be usable as a truck, so I need it to be able to drive through blizzards, carry loads in the bed and still be able to do some light off roading.

 

Scale on in Horseshoe bend is always open. I was 5550 last time I stopped....

hmm I thought a stock extended cab was 4300. Clearly not remembering that right.

Mine should be around 3300 though. So not a ton lighter. But still that's good chunk. If I was making 330-350hp I think it would be a tight race! Of course that's assuming I ever do it...

probably just need to pull that sky jacker leaf and it'll come down a lot I'd think.

 

It would be an interesting race. Get to it so we can make it happen. 350 would be impressive, but it won't be enough

I can't remember if that's in there still. Last iteration I mixed things up, added a second gen leaf, then pulled a first gen leaf ... I'll see what's left and figure it out.

 

should be pretty obvious which one it is as it'll be much thicker than any OEM leaf 1st or 2nd gen. And when you take it apart it'll have hella arch. Unless you already pulled it.

 

I know I pulled an aal but you may be right, it may still be in there. I haven't looked close, once I get center pins in I'll just figure it out.

 

Ah it's probably still there. Its pretty long I think was 2nd or 3rd down from the main leaf.
