Is anybody running a Softopper in WY? I really don't wanna drop all the money that new fiberglass camper shells cost, but I have a little bit of concern with how a Softopper would do in the wind. Any experiences with them?

Assuming you're traveling through? If it's just the boot that tore you are still roadworthy. You can run with a tors boot for thousands and thousands of miles, there's a lot of grease in the joint keeping it lubricated.

Yeah you'll be fine. Plus if you take it anywhere, more than likely they will just want to replace the whole cv anyways not fix the boot.

I ran torn boots for a LONG time through some nasty crap. Other than making a mess. It's fine.

    Thanks for the input!
I think being on the heavy side and w 178k, it might not be so bad to replace. Sort of a peace of mind when I’m out 20+ miles into the woods.

I really don't think you need to sweat it. Truly.

I drove mine forever without boots through a lot worse shit than I bet you'll be doing for years. All while weighing near 6000lbs. You'll be okay to wait until you get home to DIY.

Artic Circle is still one of my favorite places. Both in AK and up by Tuk in Canada.

Glad you got it fixed though! Was going to say depending on your route you could stop by and fix it at my place. Though im ~4 hours from Jackson

Yeah I'm familiar with that camp spot. Usually it's taken when I go up there. Hopefully you got up to the lookout where the snow was. The road goes past the lookout way out to Red Mountain. Any chance you poked around back there?

That's a heavy truck. What's the dry weight of the slide in?

Years pass I’ve ventured toward Red Mt, but the view from that knoll keeps pulling me back especially if it’s open!

    Ha I know right!
It’s not for the light hearted or the unseasoned for sure! 6k$ in suspension is a start and I don’t take my weight lightly!! Lol pun intended

    I would, and have/did/do.

Frank weighs in at 5800lbs. Hasn't had a sway bar in 11 years. Igor hasn't had one in 4.

If if fat, it's not that bad with good suspension. The smoother ride FAR out weighs(ha) the slight tippy feelings at times.
