    I mean, hopefully never. Once I get out of a bit of a debt hole and hopefully have a raise or COL adjustment then who knows. Or a consolidation will happen if I can ever afford a fullsize..

    Well that's the hope as to the "never" part of my statement. I need some shelving units to store all this crap I have sprawled in the garage. And i gotta pay down the CCs first from all the push it over the edge purchases from the house build and moving.

    So that isn't happening until spring likely.

    And I'd still like to insulate the garage but that'll probably have to wait too.

    had some BS truck issues yesturday. signs point to fuel issue, replaced fuel filter, signs point to fuel pump. by some wild grace of god or devine fate, we happen to break down in st louis, which is basicially the only town along the way from wyoming to florida where we have friends that helped us out in a huge way, and they have a shop that could drop the tank and replace the fuel pump like, today, asap.

    hopefully this does the trick and we make it the rest of the way

    Got my truck aligned by Toyota yesterday and it does drive much better, should save the tires. What is interesting is that when they put it in the rack, it was reading 1" low and I asked of that meant it's an inch lower than stock, and that was their understanding. I used some Monroe standard coilovers that I had assumed was OEM spec but I guess not, and that would explain why I had to pull so many leafs to get the rear level. I only have a 2 leaf OEM pack with the OL spring.

    Why does that matter? Apparently the SPCs hinder the ability to set camber correct at that height. And when you look at the UCAs they do sit at an odd angle at this height. They point up instead of laying flat, if that makes sense. So they ended up jacking the truck up and inch and setting the alignment there. So that got all the numbers in spec, but obviously that means it now has a couple degrees of negative camber at rest. Not a big deal really, not enough to burn through the tires, at least the tow is set and I still have a couple degrees of caster.

    Hm interesting. Did they try and adjust the actual ucas? Or no? Most shops don't want to touch them. I got one shop to mess with them while I was back there.

    Monroe eh? Couldn't swing the 880 coils and 5100? Bummer.

    Is always cool how an argument makes stuff just better. I'm sad I found a REALLY good tech in Montana. Then he promptly retired :laugh:

    I have always left the UCAs in their default settings and not had an issue. I'm sure I could adjust them to better help get things set. Visually it looks fine but I guess I could fiddle with them if I get bored. Not worth it to spend another $100 to get perfect camber numbers. Just need it to not eat the tires at this point. I'll never understand the folks that expect the shops to adjust their aftermarket UCA during and alignment, as if they have any clue how they work.

    I didn't go with her traditional 5100s because I didn't see the point. You go to those if you want to be able to adjust for lift, which is what I was trying to do the opposite of. I wanted to drop it, and I guess I succeeded. A lowered 4x4 lol I mean it is really nice for ingress now as the seat bottom is literally at hip height so I just slide into the truck now, no hop required!

    I always use the dealership down the street from work, it's a bit more expensive but I know they will do a good job. While they don't see first gens much anymore, they are so similar to the more modern trucks (since Toyota doesn't change the design much) that they have the familiarity and expertise to do it right.

    Eh the guy I had mess with them was pretty familiar with adjustable uppers more so on cars. Wasn't a fan but obliged me with trying to see if the chamber adjustment helped.

    But he not there now. Some kid is, he did okay on the red truck which is all stock basically. It's not great though.

    Sounds like you just need to adjust the ball joint... The arms naturally sit higher than the factory style. Thats why many poke holes in the fender from the zerk.
