Wow that is pretty amazing you got to see those two legends! Probably loud AF

 

I remember it being very loud. Very, very loud.

 

My dad has some awesome pictures from back in that same time period from races at Long Beach. Security and press passes were way more lax back then. He basically just told them he was working for a car magazine in Seattle and they gave him a press pass (he actually did sell them a few pictures before then). Got to walk all over the course and pits. Did it for a few years before they stopped racing there.

But thats the one thing he always told my brother and I that he remembered most....just how loud it was in the pits. Even with ear plugs in

 

Shoved some stuff around to give me more room in the one open bay. Not bad.

 

Got the new rent rails on. Not to bad. My hood clear coat is peeling I see though. That sucks.

 

Pretty cool you can open your tent inside the garage.

 

I know right! But only if I'm past the garage door opener which I found out ha


But overall not bad.

Hopefully start the wheel bearing project tomorrow. Least I can close the door if I don't finish. Also a massive improvement for me!

 

9' ceiling?

 

I think it's closer to 10'. House is 9' on ground level and the garage floor is a good foot lower or so.

 

Tool worked good to get the hub out. My impact wasn't able to do it by itself. Have to use the big breaker bar for a small section. Then the impact did the rest.

However. Broke the tip off the snap ring. Wasn't too hard to remove once I unloaded the bearing from the snap ring. Torn on if I should by a new one or just send it. Doubt I'll sell this truck at this point.

 

It seems like this job really should have new snap rings. Just my opinion.

I'm gonna send it. The snap ring is only part of what holds it together. Technically the hub and cv axle are what properly load it and hold it together. So whatever.

Plus I don't want to wait for 3-5 days for a snap ring.

Got the bearing out. Tool works good! But tricky to get it to sit flush with the hub but taking the back plate off helped a lot.

Done for now until maybe tonight. Meeting the parents in Billings for dinner.

Wasn't awful, at least he expected the damage from that. That thing looks like it is a bit under armored for its weight though.

 

The resulting squish to the skid plate seemed pretty excessive for the hit shown on camera.

Only reason I ever try hard lines is with you jerks because for some reason I still feel like I have something to prove haha

 

Aluminum skid doesn't surprise me, but the slider does a bit.

I don't want to ever test my aluminum bumpers

 

Yeah I think the results of any testing there would be devastating.

 

The cans bumpers are aluminum?
