I mean me too but seems unlikely. At least here it always has a bout of -20 in February without fail.

We are creeping up to the mid dirties by next week, I don't see it swinging enough to make a dent for us. I like not having to wear a jacket again. Nights are still cool but that'll get better too.

Drove Igor to work and all seems well with the bearing. No more noises from the front!

However, driveline is vibrating. Im guessing its the carrier bearing. Vibration is speed and load dependent, not rpm. No chriping so I don't think its a U joint. Of course it started snowing and I have a bit session for the next 2 weeks. So will wait for it to melt off next week and pull it in for further inspection. Quicky glance looks like the bearing is not in the best of shape. No play in the drive line.

275k is getting to be annoying.

I do have that but no heat. And it's gonna be pretty cold the next 2 days.

You need a waste oil heater for that space

Just put some insulation batts in the walls and it will keep it 10 to 20 degrees warmer than outside with no heat. Unless you are waiting to do spray in

Ha yeah. I have radiat floor heat in it just no heater for it yet. Probably put a mini split in it too when I do the upstairs.

Not waiting on that. Am waiting to finish the upper floor living area. Pricing out stuff to finish that space out. I don't want to add insulation until I know what we need to run for power, Ethernet, mini split lines and possibly radiat water lines.

Is impressive what a little insulation will do though. 40 would be nice.

Very nice. Hopefully I don't need to do that. But I've never replaced them on this truck so I wouldn't be surprised.

I get that, been dealing with that with our remodel. The batts will stay in place on the walls without stapling so you could pull them out after winter when you are ready to start running utilities. Give you at least a comfortable space to tinker temporarily and prob keep the floor above warmer too retaining the heat in the garage

that's a vaild point. Especailly if I just do the two walls and leave the door side and ceiling alone.

They make batting rods that you just push in between the studs against the insulation and the tension holds em. I use em to hold the insulation in my shop ceiling. totally easy to pull out if you decide to change or need to repair something.

Plus, by putting in the bats, pulling them out for utilities, and putting them back in again, you can get itchy THREE times instead of one! ;)

(I still agree with Brett that you should put them in for the 20° win... who knows how long it will actually be until the upstairs is done!)

I hate doing things twice, but a small price to pay for usability. Newer insulation batts aren't near as itchy as some of original older stuff from our house, hasn't bothered me yet anyway

Always depends on the space too. I just insulated our 100 year old kitchen, and there were so many places where I didn't have full stud bays, or where there was diagonal bracing, etc. that all the cutting made for lots of floating fibers. On a newly framed space like the garage, I'd bet that most of it is just cut-to-length.

Still not as bad as sanding the drywall though.

Came out pretty nice in the end. Only hired someone to cut/install the granite.

Looks good! Sanding drywall is an art for sure. I have 9' ceilings in the garage so had to cut some 1' pieces because for some reason they don't make 9' batts. Sharp knife and a board to compress it makes for quick cutting with minimal stuff floating around

I appreciate you for doing natural wood rather than just painting some shit white like everyone else does now
