oh you still need an adapter. That makes sense to set the correct depth to the sensor. Thus no loss in f stop.

    Cool. Not bad then.

Started to fab a welding table. What I was shooting for was a frame for 48"x48 1/2" x 1/2" plate top with 3" overhang on all sides :facepalm:Guess I'm going to undo everything I just did now...perfect. Good job on the math brain

Not sure if it is a sign from the universe with how I'm jumping back into photography, but had a coworker come up to me today and ask about cars and bids auctions and if I would shoot their car (Lexus SC300) for them to list on there, payment included. It was a really good feeling until I realized I didn't have the glass for it. So a used 24-105 f/4 L series is on it's way.... I'm covered now 18-560mm(theoretically 900mm) in glass for almost any shoot I want to do, which is great since I've need asked about doing others as well already :anonymous: Only thing I'm missing now is Photoshop skills, but I can work on that for free.

I still think you should transition to using Lightroom and then if there's still something that's nitpicky afterward then work it in Photoshop. The workflow is much smoother that way and Lightroom is stupid powerful for all the things you're probably doing in Photoshop that it's kind of clunky for these days

You aren't wrong. I do 99% of my editing in Adobe raw, and the get frustrated when I work in PS and can only save as a PSD or TIFF file. I'm meeting up with the local Audoban Society tomorrow morning so whatever results from that I'll give Lightroom a stab and see if it is a better program for my workflow.

haha oh man. Well at least it's an easy fix with metal. Just time consuming

The real good stuff for cars are primes of course. 85mm and 40mm I think get used a LOT. But that 24-105 is a good lens. Will serve you well.

    Now stop spending money

    1000% this.

You need to do Lightroom. Its Adobe RAW on steroids' and the file management is nice too. PS is for surgery only or complex editing tasks. Even then, LR can do a lot of complex stuff.

So would definitely go to LR. Workflow is MUCH faster too when doing batch stuff, you can save presets that you can just do every time once you know your gear well. Like how much noise reduction and sharpening and lens correction and chromatic aberration . Just one click on all of them then you can focus on color/balance/composition.

Who says divorce doesn't pay :anonymous: honestly I think I'm done, I have all the focal length, I have the tripod, the bag, now to just use it all. I went with all used gear and didn't splurge for the fastest glass so I feel less guilty about it, but now I have the tools to do what I want. Felt limited before.

I'll give Lightroom a try tomorrow and see how it is. I think I tried it before but it didn't leave a lasting impression.

I'll play with it tomorrow and report back.

Make sure you use the one that's just called Lightroom not Lightroom classic.

LOL, I was just going to reply and say, "You really want to make sure you're using LR Classic."

Have you found LR to have all the features now Zane? Maybe I should give it another shot...

It's just frustrating when you see it in your mind, you know what you are doing, you know that you have to account for extra length of the legs, but then along the way your brains like "yeah umm it's this length, don't worry, I know you were thinking right, but heres what you need. Go get em tiger"

LR classic at this point is left behind, it's lacking features from the last 3 years. The only thing it new Lightroom doesn't do is upload straight to Flickr. The biggest thing that got me off LrC was that new Lightroom edits locally now as well if you don't want to use the cloud upload part. It's been years since I've touched classic at this point though so maybe there's somethings they didn't migrate over. But at this point it's so feature rich and so much more streamlined than classic I don't think I could see myself going back ever.

They both do. Don't use classic, you'd learn it and then they're going to kill it one of these days, it's a matter of time.

Interesting. Classic has been adding all the AI filters, and is so good at file management that I've continued to use it. Of course, there was no LR local editing when I started, so that was a deal breaker for me (I'm right at 1.1TB or so in my library at this point, so cloud would be prohibitively expensive).

Will install it and see what it's like. Thanks for the nudge.

haha yeah for sure. Been there many times.

Hm i also was using LRc because of local editing and not wanting to do the cloud shit and pay more. So if LR itself is local based now then I don't really care what I'd use ha

There we go, still need to put a shelf on the bottom and maybe some drawers under the top for small things

Posted this in the wrong thread...

Sorry to keep hammering on camera stuff, but I did spend most of the day putting the gear through it's paces. Still struggles with low light with the weather here. Once the sun pops out the performance picks up tenfold. But man, this camera does burn through batteries, sucked one dry in one day. I suspect the servo AF is a big part of it.

I seem to only have LRc on my Adobe subscription. I didn't try it :anonymous:

Anyways here are some highlights from today.

Looks good! Also, the shop looks awesome man. Very spacious.

Yeah AF on that big lens will do that.

    You should still try LR

Also this might be one of the most unique ways to use an old 4runner I've seen..
