I was going to ask if anyone here was interested after dealing with typical marketplace shenanigans but this kid came through in the end.

New shocks ordered for the rear of the van. Hopefully it improves it enough to warrant doing the front too. Supposed Agile Off-road has their own custom skew with Fox for valving specifically for the big vans, I guess we will see about that though...

@Speedytech7 are my Bilsteins 5165 series rebuildable/tunable?

 

No they're not end user serviceable. They can be ordered with specialty valving from the factory which is what a lot of these builders do since it's cheaper than putting actual rebuildable shocks on but it provides better ride than just generic off the shelf shit.

Only 2". Almost feels like a step down from the Bilsteins with reservoirs but I'm hoping the valving being correct makes up for it. Again it's going to be a bit of a trial to see if it's the right direction.

At least you can rebuild and tweak them if you wanted.

 

The 5165 have reservoirs. The shocks offered don't have a reservoir option. We will see if I push them hard enough. I know that when I checked the front shocks after coming off the Pryor's the bodies were cool to the touch, which doesn't make sense with that much weight it should be cooking them. I hope I can install them or have them installed before 4th of July for a trip I have planned in Nevada and then I will have them for later July to test them further.

Yeah I was about to say we didn't do hard. I just put the truck in low and let it do what it does. Didn't even need a locker

 

yeah I mean the only reason Ben didn't like that was due to traction. If he had better tires he'd have been fine.

 

Yeah those tires were ok when new, but with the wear on them they really struggle in the slop. Not really wanting to try anything else though, the Kenda seem like they would be cool but I'm not sure how well they would hold the weight, and discount doesn't sell them.

 

Ben, Are you thinking an MT would be too aggressive on the van for highway driving?

 

I mean an MT is gonna burn up quick on that thing no matter what. It's not qualified to be doing whatever "requires" an MT anyway. But a more aggressive AT would certainly help, even new those Nittos are basically a service truck highway tire

 

No I won't put MT on it as I want it to be decent in the winter, and my experience with MT in the winter is not great. We know the ATs are compromised in the muck but I am ok with that, the tires have been great just about everywhere else as you would expect from a good AT. Most of my driving is pavement and dirt roads. The little bit of slop is usually with you guys which is a small fraction of what I do.
