Right at 5 years and just under 70K. No indication of a problem but I will be changing them before the next adventure.

The last time I remember doing mine was March 2017 :anonymous: and I may have done them after that but I don't recall, but we had to BEAT that thing to remove it so I suspect they were from them. So 7 years and probably similar mileage. They weren't great but not completely toasted, needed done. We will see how the Moogs hold up.

Makes more sense now. I was picturing something completely different assuming this end was one piece with the u-joint ears that pressed/welded onto the female spline section.

Yeah I couldnt picture it in my head until I saw it.

The new driveline did fix the slip and the noise, the u joints were both toast. But I still have a vibration that kicks off between 65-70. Goes away by 95, allegedly.

Trying to troubleshoot it, the front is a little bit taller than it was with less weight, so I don't think it's the front diff or axles. Only thing I can think of is I need to space the carrier since the rear is taller than it ever was. If it's not that then it's a wheel bearing? Fronts are original.

I'm not sure if it's an open invite, but I'd love to join if so. Especially since Death Valley is a "short" 7 hours away. I was unable to make the annual September Utah trip I go on due to work and December is the only month I'm free for the foreseeable future.

I have some vibes around 65-70 still as well. Even with the 63s loaded. I have around 3/4" carrier drop using 3/4" bolt (I think) nuts. I wanna say the vibes could be coming from my front diff honestly. I've had the CV's out so many times and have beat on the truck relentlessly. That needle bearing is probably toast.

But I imagine you still have some vibes because of driveline angle. Id throw a spacer of some kind in and see what it does. Like Brett had mentioned though, driveline spacer may not be a bad idea depending on if that slip yoke is at all extended from original length. Or Did you have it built to spec based on your dimensions of tcase flange-->Carrier-->Rear axle flange?

Since when do you have SPC UCAs?

I don't see why not. Unless this was the place Dan said only 4 rigs and in which case we might be full? Idk whos all commited yet.

Speaking of which I think I'll be okay to do that week Dan. Devin wasn't stoked but not gonna be too sad either.

For uppers? Never. Pretty sure Ryan was asking about LBJs when he asked about time/mileage. Anyway, I assumed he was and that was what I was referring to.

When I had vibes after my very first lift, I added about 1/2" drop to the carrier bearing and it eliminated the vibrations I had at 55-60 mph. That drop is still in there.

I didn't custom order it is just off the shelf. I'll look and see if McMaster has something that would fit the bill, the bolts in there have a ton of threads to work with

You all are doing better than me. I've just chalked it up to an annual maintenance item. I did remove the boot on the last set and there was quite a bit of pitting on the ball. Maybe I wasn't greasing them often enough. I did install the latest version this last time, hopefully they are an improvement.

I've not heard good things about the axis bushing. Hoping I can find some spec bushings still.

I meant SPCs. I was getting a year out of oem lbjs so I guess I don't expect the spc to do much better with how I abuse my truck.

Gotta pay to play I guess... I'll probably install a set on my Sequoia when the time comes. I want the firewall clearance for 35s and I think that's the easiest way to go about it.

It may be a bit before I'm replacing those. Starting to weigh my options on another truck to build off of. I think this one has reached its service life now that the cab is failing.

A tried and true recovery method. Not sure why it needed to be done on pavement though.

These are some pics I have of a trail recovery of the Raisin out at Elbe Hills ORV. A sloppy mess.

Found the worst wash boarded road I've ever encountered in all years today. I tried to change speed but the fast I went the worse it got. painful 10 miles just crawling along. But hey, at least I got to see some cool shit.

Ok a need some help with rear shocks. Obviously the shocks I have aren't working. Per Headstrong they were made for 0-1" of lift and this worked when the truck sat lower on 35s. But now the rear is taller and I'm topping out the shocks in normal driving (the roads here are pretty shitty) and they are pretty brutal off-road.
    https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p296/Fox_-_95-04_Toyota_Tacoma_Rear,_PS,_2.0,_IFP,_7.1",_0-1"_Lift_-_980-24-672_(PAIR).html

The shocks are 13.4-20.5" stroke. I want something like 15"-25" and ADS has 250-sbx10-000 that meets this and are bit spendy at $1400. I know you are ADS fanboys but is there anything else I need to worry about with this? I am assuming that the leafs can droop the additional 5" but maybe that isn't the case as they barely squatted when we put weight on them. I could take a leaf out and swap to 650# front springs as another option. The image below is based entirely on the assumption of how much travel the springs have in them, assumes the ride height based on experience with the Foxes, and ignores what the compression is at the bumps.

I forget if you ever did the rear shock relocation? If not, don't forget that the ADS are going to come with spherical bearings vs. the rubber bushings used with the stock mounts. If you're still using stock mounts, maybe 5100s? (since I know those are commonly recommended for 0-3" lifts).

If you do want to go ADS, want to save a bit of money, and don't mind waiting a few weeks, I'll sell you mine, newly rebuilt for $1000 shipped, since I want to pick up some longer ones for the 63s. But, I haven't ordered yet, so you'd have to wait for me to get the new ones and then ship mine your direction.
