Yeah I keep the stock location, spare tire under the bed is nice.

I want to do better than the 5100s. I think you're right they could work, maybe the 5125 I have before too, but they are a band-aid and not a great long term fix.

Your offer isn't terrible, tell me more about the lengths, model numbers, etc. I can survive a bit with the truck as is while I chase down the vibration issue.

I was the original guinea pig for the 15-25" 2.5 rears. So, they are 250-SBX10-000 that you're looking at online, but they have hoses to the resis, rather than piggy back.

Here's a pic of them new. They are no longer this shiny.

I'll have to look at your thread for mounting ideas for the resi.

When you rebuilt them did you change the valving?

For you, in stock location, I think you'd probably have to mount to the frame or something. Maybe to the bed crossmember? eww. I had the relocation, so just mounted to the round tube that the shocks mounted to.

The are revalved. Tim @TMFF helped me with the shim stacks, to achieve the following (my description to him of what I wanted). I can look up the actual stacks and get those to you as well. They weren't changed much from what ADS had, but did make a nice difference.
    • On road - I want a slightly softer ride - to make the long highway stretches a little more comfortable.
    • Off-road - I wanted a bit more dampening before I would hit my bump stops (slower compression of the shocks) as well as a little slower rebound as the shocks were re-extending. A little bit like trophy trucks that slowly rise out of their squat after a jump, I was hoping to change my down-up-down-up action to one that was simply, down-up.

Here they are mounted on my truck. This is how shiny they actually are, hahaha.

Sounds like something that would work. If your confident they will fit in the stock mounting like their new ones claim, I'll wait until you're ready to sell. Just don't go putting too many miles on them :luvya:

A 7100 10" short body would be pretty perfect. And reasonably priced for what you're getting.

I mean, like I said - I don't know how they'll mount up at all since they have spherical bearings and the stock pegs expect rubber bushings, but that's going to be an issue with any shocks from ADS, I'd suspect.

As far as mounting the resis. I think you should just do the relocation and squirrel your spare away in the bed like you were planning. But, you could always burn in a quick non-structural crossmember to mount the resis to right above the rear axle and out of the way of the spare in the meantime.

Edit: you could also just wrap the resi around and clamp it to the shock body with the little rubber spacers to simulate a piggyback, I suppose...

Are you sure those will work on his truck without relocating the mounts? Seems like they will be too long. Also, the stock mounts wont work with the spherical bearings. IIRC, the ID on the bearings is 1/2" and the oem mounts are either 9/16'" or 5/8" OD.

Edit: NVM, I see you addressed it.

I'm right there with you. That's what I said, twice. :)

I think Ben feels like length would be OK, and I can't really speak to that for his situation...Depends on his lift and bump settings, I suppose...

Hmm I'll take a look. I didn't get much on a quick Google search at work.
Maybe with that in mind I may just go new, ADS says theirs are a direct fit part. Would be a marketing fail if they require modifications. I would spend the extra $400 just making yours fit it sounds like. Plus no extra work to locate the resi.

And no there's no way to burn in a cross-member, my hands are tied to apartment life. Sad reality but it is what it is. I can bolt shit in in the street like my drive shaft, but no fan or custom work.

So I'll have to pass it looks like.

That's the nail in the coffin with his then. Won't fit, and like I said above I am not in a spot to "make them fit".

Too long, idk. I know what I have now, are too short. I sit an inch below full extension. So longer seems to be the right solution as long as I consider a taller bumps to help protect them on the end.

Just be aware - the ones from ADS are not a direct fit, either. They are the same part number as my invoice, and they most definitely have spherical bearings. You can call to confirm, but I guarantee that direct fit is a typo.

To clamp the resi on mine to the shock body is free. I already have the little rubber thingies, b/c they are used to clamp the resis to the round bar that the shocks mount to. You just end up with the resi hose kinda... "there." But again, the mounts won't fit, so you'll have to do something there for anything ADS.

I think you're absolutely right. I guess I'll have to shop elsewhere. Bummer deal.
    Screenshot_20240916-104946~3.png

Looks like I may be up shit creek and just end up with some shitty 5125 that fit the length I need in the stock location. At least they are cheap so not a big deal if I wreck them, silver lining and all that.

Could get 5165s or 7100s should be able to get bushings with them. I think.

My Internet is out at home (again) but when I looked earlier the 7100s weren't off the shelf. The 5125 can be had in the right length for cheap. Hate going back there but feeling like I'm limited on options.

Having never run them, but seeing them recommended all the time on here, what didn't you like about the 5125s?

They were ok, when I swapped to the Foxes the ride was much better. I felt the bilsteins wore out quick and somehow I managed to bend a shaft at some point (ok that's more on me than the shock). They are fine, but not great.

    7100s are like $250/each for a rebuildable/revalvable 2" with resi.

They come with spherical bearings, but I read a write-up on here somewhere years ago with a bushing that works to convert them to the stock mounts.

I remember that too. They were red.

I'll do some digging see if I can find it.

It was @Lumpskie that did it with 12" short bodies in oem location. He had lift shackles though too.
