Putting in 10s seems like a complete waste of effort IMO

 

A tree just fell onto the roof of my house. quite the thud and it shook the whole house.

 

Damn, you and the roof okay?

 

I am ok and near as I can tell, the roof and building might have dodged a bullet too. Hard to know for sure until daylight but with the flashlight I can't see any damage but it looks like the tree is laying across the roof. Nothing is visible inside either.

There is a storm moving thru that is reported to have hurricane force (70 mph+) winds.

 

Hope everything is OK! Windy here, but no downed trees in the immediate vicinity yet. Lots of flickering lights.

 

Damn that's unsettling. Insurance might be buying you a new roof eh? I can't imagine the jolt that must've been! Which side of the house was it? Did it fully uproot?

 

Very unsettling. Quite the jolt but I knew what it was as soon as it happened. The tree is laying across the roof at the south end of the house, above the dining room/living room. Near as I can tell the tree uprooted and fell over.

Power has gone off 4 or 5 times so far. Doesn't stay off very long though so that is good.

 

In all the times I've been to your place I've never seen the back yard, I was trying to picture which tree it was. Am I remembering right that you had a tree taken down out of the front within the last few years?

We did do some tree work last year but it was removing some lower limbs so they would not hit the roof. And several years ago I did remove a tree that was in the front yard.

@drr Dan, how are you faring in the onslaught. No dramas I hope.

 

Trees are definitely part of the wetside scene. This wind though is way beyond category and not typical.

 

Dang Mike I hope the cleanup efforts go smoothly. Had wind here and the chickens woke us up but that's all

This is why I don't want trees too close to our house. Devin keeps wanting me to plant them closer. But we get 60mph winds all the time so..no thanks.

If you get them from me I'll even valve them how he had them in that screenshot if you want. I don't know if it's right for how you have your truck set up but it's easy enough to do and it might be closer than what I've got dialed into em right now.

 

nah i don't need that to be done. Later in the thread he had mention needing it revalved anyways as it had no flutters. Not worried about that. Think the biggest thing I'll need to get is 1.25'' spacers vs 1.5''.

 

I mean according to that stack it does have a flutter but it's just a single flutter on the comp side. That's interesting that they chose to use 1.25-in spacing for that application

 

I guess it's what TC just designed. Probably in an attempt to avoid some amount of rubbing.
