I haven't made it up to Taos yet. Been doing a lot to the west and south. I'll bookmark that for when I head north, although it might wait until spring. Been distracted lately, haven't pulled the van out of storage in 3 weeks...

Thanks! We’ve got hot water, stove, and the gas side of the furnace all running, only need a small generator for the thermostats and igniters.

Planning to add a manual transfer switch to my main electrical panel after this debacle so everything can run off one generator.

 

I would imagine that with a newborn, this has been a bit of a challenge. to you guys for faring thru all those.

 

One thing I noticed here is the temperature swings. Been about 40* between highs and lows, which seems more drastic than where I've lived before. It was about 33* when I got up at 5 this morning and then just got back from a hike where it was nearly 70*, sunshine and a subtle breeze. And to think it's almost December?

 

Sounds like here in some ways. But more like that in the summer/shoulder seasons. Winter it doesn't tend to move quite that much. But can do 30-50 swings in a day.

I'm still amazed we can have swings up to 120 or more annually. Idk how animals surive

 

They sleep during the heat, and come out when it's cool. The bird GTFO of there lol

I think it's a bigger swing because of the elevation, the air just loses heat faster once the sun drops. One problem I had with Boise was when it's triple digits, it's still like 85* at bed time. I'm curious if that'll be the case here or if evenings are more enjoyable outside. Being south, high up, and further east of the time zone line will be interesting to see how it affects that.

 

You are a bit higher than me. 1000' about. Makes a difference for sure.

We only have to run the AC a few times a year at night when it won't cool off. Otherwise it usually does.

So I'd bet it is better but hard to know given you are further south even though you are higher. Time will tell!

 

It's kinda a fun one to think about lol what elevation are you at? My apartment sits right at 5302ft. Mile high baby.

 

nice! House is at 4200ish. Work is at 4400ish at studio(up to 5500 if I go up there which is rare in the winter).

Columbus in town was only 3300 which was wild to think about.

He was comparing TRDOR trim pricing, and ultimately came away with a $45K 4th gen that had (essentially) all of the useful features of the OR, but without the OR price tag, by leaving out a $9K package that seemed pretty useless - power tailgate, speakers, etc. That $45K was pretty close to the SR5 you looked at Ben @m3bassman...

Not that $45K is cheap, hahaha.

Also, having never had or used/tried crawl control, watching this video, I think to myself... you need crawl control for that? But, I suppose that a lot of people really do.

 

Good perspective. So far a 7k premium you can get the TRDOR over a base SR5. Still I struggle to accept the price climb. My brain doesn't compute.

As for crawl control, it seems dumb to most of us because we cut our teeth on these old trucks and had to develope the skills. We are the minority, sadly.

And yes $45k is still a lot of money for a depreciating asset. I started dating a girl recently that actually likes my old trucks so I'll stick to them for a bit longer
