If that thing doesn't have 12 empty cans of Copenhagen stashed in it somewhere I'd be appalled

yeah! Gavin. And then I blew a wheel bearing. And then fixed it with the Bretts. That was a fun trip.

Oh yeah I'd never spend that. I mean, it is very clean and I rarely see under 100k ones. So, pretty cool. Someone will buy it for 20k i'm sure.

Yeah few clapped out ones like that always pop up. Would certainly do the trick although I've never seen them for less than 10k really. Well, at least not without having to pour a lot of money back into i guess.

Nah they are out there, around here anyway, but they will look terrible.

Picked up a non running 2000 2wd 4runner for $600 couple weeks back for the sport hood and parts in general. Turns out a mouse had chewed through the cam sensor wire. Runs great. Now I have to decide if keeping the hood is worth it or just clean it up to flip

Hoods are different colors, feel like a 2wd is already going to be a cheap sell and a different color hood could bring the already struggling value down idk. It's a fair point though

That's true. Wish I could get the engine for a spare haha no space for it.

Probably make more money parting it out. Just a pita to do that time wise.

My plan"someday"is to have a rebuilt 3.4 waiting on a stand to throw into the Mrs. 4runner should I need it. There is one in a junkyard near here I believe to be low miles. Need to go hook a battery to it and read the odometer

You are indeed a gentleman

Its wild how much control the algorithms have on us and how they mold our opinions.

They removed the grease zerk. Apparently contamination was the primary reason for short service life. For me it's just another pay to play item.

You might be able to tighten up the tank guide bushing. That will tighten up some play taking the lash out of the gear.

I have to disagree with you on it effecting the toe. The rack guide is a solid piece so if one end moves the other will move proportionally with it. I would say it would cause a vague, floaty steering feel being able to "drift" one way or the other slightly.

I sincerely hope I get to meet everyone in this thread at some point. We all have varying views on everything and I think in regards to these trucks we've all contributed quite a bit to this forum despite our differing opinions on some things. I hope we all succeed in the future and when we fail we put our nose back to the grindstone and perservere. Our struggles make us stronger.

I've met a good chunk of the folks here, and I got a say, good people. I would venture to say collective we know more about these trucks any anyone else in the world at this point. Different opinions yes, which is a good thing, echo chambers aren't great.

Would anyone in the 307 area happen to have a ECGS pilot removal tool I could buy or borrow? Planning on doing the swap soon but don’t wanna spend more than I have to. Thanks guys!

Pulled the front timing belt cover to get the wire fixed properly and realized it didn't go to the cam sensor but rather the coolant temp sensor. Looked in the wiring schematics and can't see how that connects to the ignition circuit. It definitely was the reason it did not start, cause once I put the wires back together it fired immediatly. I am at a loss as to why that would keep it from running?

hm could just be a ground thing? Or i needs to see all sensors to fire?

I got my lil plow working today. Front mount reciever install went mostly fine. broke two bolts which sucks removing the bumper. Will wait until it's warmer to fix. Sucked putting it on it dark and cold. But the plow works great! No longer will we have that issue. Pretty cool.

Had to trim the bumper a bit and nailed it on one side. Other side I was off 1/4'' so the slot is much bigger there.

No photos as it was totally dark out when I finished and plowed the drive way.

Man. If I had money and the shop. This would be such a fun little project car to build/restore. I've wanted one of these for years. Never thought I'd see one localish. Bet it's a hoot to drive.
