Man I was eyeing those for a while, glad to hear good things. I still need new rubber on the truck and the van probably only has another season on its rubber. Why are tires so expensive :(

Want a set of 5, 33" Klever RTs (one's never seen a ground-contact rotation) mounted on amazingly beautiful bronze 17" Sequoia wheels?

Honestly I think my plan is to put the best 4 tires from the van and the truck, and the hen get new tires for the van. Seems to be the best use of my money right now.

I like that idea. Fully supportive.

I don't have any problem running the Kendas (they are a nice tire), but I don't really love the combo either due to the weight. I *definitely* don't look forward to the price of 5 new S/T Maxxs though. That's gonna suck.

You could run some semi truck take offs, they'll be cheap and they're about as hard a tread compound as the ST maxx haha

Have you read anything he's posted since literally the day he got them, he does not like them. Be surprised if he wears them down before getting something else

No not really. I don't read his thread haha TLDR vibes haha

The tire or the weight? I want to know where he's feeling this extra weight..

It's the weight I'm sure since the tire is pretty unremarkable otherwise (although he thinks they look too aggressive or something). The setup he chose with the Sequoia wheels also added some weight too I guess. Something like an extra 20lbs per corner for him. Whether or not one can actually feel that or not is up for debate I suppose but I don't think he'll be satisfied until they're the same weight as the ST Maxx or below. I think he'd be happy with bicycle tires if the weight savings was great enough. His 5th gear choice and the general malaise of an NA 5VZ isn't helping either.

    Yeah.

I like the look (quite a bit actually), but the rest is pretty spot on. I will wear them down though, because I feel like it's a waste not to, and I do like the data I'm gathering.

I got a good chuckle out of this. All the tire posts (in particular) have TL;DR and then a one sentence summary at the top of them. lol

Interestingly enough you did get a tire/wheel combo that weigh even more than my wheels and 35s so there's easily room for improvement without going back to ST Maxx in a 33 I'm sure.

I'll definitely be looking at different tires when I go back to 16s. I still want 255/85 (well, something 10.5 or narrower), but I'm not wed to the Maxx at all.

It's a fine tire... or it was when it was priced accordingly for a fairly meh tire. But now it just seems like a cash grab at its current prices especially in such a small size as 255/85. But to be fair everything in that niche size is skewed way high for the overall size of the tire compared to others in the same diameter. There should be something 10.5 wide in a 17 you can find, we just need to find you some cheap forged 17s as they'll be the lightest.

Yeah I just don't read that haha

And data you're gathering? On tires?

Well last I looked and that was a long time ago, there were only two options even available in 255/85. 16s are a dying size and 255/85 weren't popular to begin with so I doubt you'll have many options.

Have way more options with the 17s obviously.

I honestly was never that happy with them. They were a totally meh tire. A true AT. Good at nothing kind of bad at everything.

I'm going to run one more set of MTs just because Jayson is going to 37s and I offered to buy his sub 1000mi used Mastercraft (Cooper STT Pro clone) 35s when he does. But then I was looking to go to some form of hybrid, the Maxx always seemed like a real lack luster tire to me and there are more than a few of its clones (also from Cooper holding brands) that I would never consider buying them. Just seemed like a HT tread compound with large lugs to cosplay as an offroad tire. The Kendas are on the list but right now I'm eyeing up something in a lower load range too.

I might get the Kenda's for Frank when I get around to it. 35x12.5r15 are c load still.

They make a Mt too that I've not heard much about.

But not a ton of RT options although more come out all the time.

maxxs worked fine enough but never wowed me. Other than the side wall which was indeed beefy and could take some abuse for sure. But also very stiff. So kind of a pro and a con.

I forgot what wheel size you have?

I have 16s but I know that's a dead end road, all the tires left are for heavy duty trucks. I'm going to put my wheels on the land cruiser when they retire from the truck. Jayson's tires/wheels are 35/12.5/15 so those will give me some retro 15s haha, at least that combo is load C and very light, the whole tire and wheel combo is like 2/3rd the weight of my current setup. But after I burn those off, unless I really love em, I'll go up to 17.

    Nice.

I'd love to stay at 15s. Not sure that'll be do able long term. But love the look and the big squishy side walls.

I'm assuming that is to Dan and not me...

Strikes me as the most fiscally responsible for this year, both trucks otherwise need tires this year. In a year where I moved all my 401k to money market accounts ... I'm nervous about spending unnecessary moneys
